FOH gig tonight - Newcastle Arms, Retford

Does exactly what it says on the tin. Some of the nonsense contained herein may be very loosely related to The Sisters of Mercy, but I wouldn't bet your PayPal account on it. In keeping with the internet's general theme nothing written here should be taken as Gospel: over three quarters of it is utter gibberish, and most of the forum's denizens haven't spoken to another human being face-to-face for decades. Don't worry your pretty little heads about it. Above all else, remember this: You don't have to stay forever. I will understand.

Come watch us play, some slightly-gothic songs for all the g0ffs here, but mostly drum-machine-led metal. And a bit of electronica. And.. oh, just go and find out yourself.

I'm singing on some of the tracks, and mixing the sound beforehand. So apologies in advance.

With any luck, it should be going on cassette in a bootleg-sounding way. 8)
Doubt it'll get released, though.

We have one more gig in Feb (next Saturday, IIRC) and that may be video-recorded. ;D

It's not really my place to share their bootlegs. I just mix, howl, and release the official material. ;)

Plus, they'll probably offer a better recording up for free anyway, the tape's just for my own amusement.

My god, that was a poor tape, we listened to it on the way back.

As far as the gig itself went, I think it was a success. Only three minor fuckups, none of which the audience noticed. There was a smoke machine too. Lots of creeping fog.
I mixed on-stage, and there were no monitors, so we really hadn't a clue what was going on, but a friend in the audience indicated to me when to change something. He only did it a few times, so apparently it turned out well.
Either way, we've been invited back there. And next Saturday, one of our "fans" indicated that he'd be bootlegging it. And the best audience bootleg is released/put up for download. So best get those tape recorders ready! ;D

Aye. Gonna try and convince the others on Tuesday (next practice) to put one of these tracks up for download. The biggest problems I see is that guitars are almost inaudible at times, or overly distorted, the drums sound (and probably were) overdriven to f**k to try and get them loud enough for us to hear, and the recorder was right by the bass amp, so that's what's heard the most.

We'll see what the best track is. Until then, you'll have to make do with the official releases.

Guess this thread can be unstickied now, mods. I'll post another thread for next week's. ;D

EDIT: Just found out we got rebooked there for June, and we were given £40 (towards equipment and such) for our trouble. No' bad!

No problem as far as I'm concerned. Pick a track and go for it. I'll put it up on the official site ( www.fearofhatred.co.uk ) as soon as I get it via email!

...and the possibility of a festival appearance with a capacity crowd of 500 plus. Should be a good 'un.

Cheers,

Holy f**k, hey Craig. ;D

Well then, I'll give the tape another listen.. at the moment, it looks like Adrenalin Rush or Lycanthropic Reign would be best.

Personally speaking, I think I'd prefer Adrenalin Rush 'cos I think it's a better song. Although as I wrote the lyrics for both of them I ain't that bothered!
