A Merciful Release - So Will You Buy It?

THE place for your Sisters-related comments, questions and snippets of Sisters information. For those who do not know, The Sisters of Mercy are a rock'n'roll band. And a pop band. And an industrial groove machine. Or so they say. They make records. Lots of records, apparently. But not in your galaxy. They play concerts. Lots of concerts, actually. But you still cannot see them. So what's it all about, Alfie? This is one of the few tightly-moderated forums on Heartland, so please keep on-topic. All off-topic posts will either be moved or deleted. Chairman Bux is the editor and the editor's decision is final. Danke.

Will you buy "A Merciful Release"?

OK...............don't tell me.
Whoops !

The three reissues are now coming out again, but this time all together and snugly housed in a "faux snakeskin" box.

Same discs. Nothing extra. Fancy box around them.

This is the reason for all the yay's and nay's - it's a tough call if you've bought the three discs already.........

Well.. the (promotional?) boxset of Walk Away, Body And Soul and No Time To Cry 12" singles was no different, bar a nice box to keep them together, and you try finding a copy. ;)

I can't help myself. I ordered my box set when I ordered the 3 re-issues...

I suffer from TheSistersofMercyitis where all mental and logical faculties become bemused and befuddled at the the mere suggestion of "New" items.

It's purely academic now cos I just have.

It's a box. A plain cardboard box with a snakeskin print on it (ripped off the Anaconda sleeve), not even textured or anything like that. The letters are all the correct height, so we can put the previous issues down to JPEG artefacts.

Contained within that box are 3 CD digipaks - the very same as the standard CD reissues (they're even individually shrinkwrapped).

Ignore what it says on all the sites about a second mix of More, because it's the same VT. No misspellings on the spine, though, so I expect no skips also, although I haven't listened yet.

There is some supplementary info though:
A Merciful Release logo used by kind permission of The Reptile House Ltd
So that answers that one anyway...

All in all, good value to get the three albums for 16 quid. I suspect Andy isn't making a dime out of this?

Obviously if I hadn't already bought the discs for £8.99 a piece () then I'd jump right on this, it's great value for money, just a bit of a cheap-shot from Rhino to release it a couple of months down the line at a much more affordable price.

Well, I only bought the first one, so when this one drops to a tenner at HMV (and it will - trust me). Then I'll get it.

Btw. with these prices, it must be no surprise that Andy is in no hurry to release anything new.

*Bump*

So, has it showed up in UK record stores yet ? It'll probably be a while before I get to see it around here.

And even longer before I buy it. :innocent:

It's out today so I'll be checking later in the week to see just how "faux snakeskin" the box is.

If it's just lines drawn on it I'll pass until I get paid next !

I went to fondle the box on the way home this evening. It seemed to me it was just patterned cardboard. Unless they keep all the skin ones under the counter to stop them getting too heavily fingered.

I might take a look in HMV today if I can be bothered.. if not, no worries. I can pick up a cheap one in a month or two's time on eBay.
