Transferring emails from Outlook Express to Outlook

Does exactly what it says on the tin. Some of the nonsense contained herein may be very loosely related to The Sisters of Mercy, but I wouldn't bet your PayPal account on it. In keeping with the internet's general theme nothing written here should be taken as Gospel: over three quarters of it is utter gibberish, and most of the forum's denizens haven't spoken to another human being face-to-face for decades. Don't worry your pretty little heads about it. Above all else, remember this: You don't have to stay forever. I will understand.

I'd like to transfer all my emails and address book from Outlook Express to Outlook (2003).

I've got the old email files on disc and know where the Outlook message store folder is located, but it's a .pst file and I can't simply copy/paste the old emails into it.

Thanks for any help :)

AFAIK, Outlook gives you the option to import OE files and folders after you installed it...

copy the old OE emails into a new OE account on your new pc, then Outlook will detect them & import them from there, as izzy says ;)

I recommend installing Thunderbird, or any of the other non-M$FT mail programs. Outlook is as much a virus vector as OE, and unfortunately, the nuisance isn't limited to the people using this infernal crapware.

OTOH, I had a lot of trouble using Thunderbird, resulting in deleted posts, not all posts incoming like it should etc...:?

Using it for ages now - both Mac and PC, never encountered any problems! Far better than Outlook Express, I'd say...
