Firefox - PDF Viewing Help Needed

Does exactly what it says on the tin. Some of the nonsense contained herein may be very loosely related to The Sisters of Mercy, but I wouldn't bet your PayPal account on it. In keeping with the internet's general theme nothing written here should be taken as Gospel: over three quarters of it is utter gibberish, and most of the forum's denizens haven't spoken to another human being face-to-face for decades. Don't worry your pretty little heads about it. Above all else, remember this: You don't have to stay forever. I will understand.

Just switched from IE7 to FF and I'm having a problem with viewing PDF files on line - link opens a new window but it's blank.
I've got adobe reader installed and this was working fine with Microshaft Internet Exploiter.

Am I missing a plug-in or is it some problem with security settings? :?

You're missing a plugin

You can download it (and others) from here:
https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/plugins/

(I'd suggest installing the lot of them while you're there)

But on the off chance that Mr Laz "Just call me Firefox" Corp is still lurking ...

I ran it for a while and loved it it. Then it freaked out on me so I (temporarily) went back to IE. I'm now back on FF and everything is wonderful. However, when I switched back to IE, I changed all my passwords (Non-geek and paranoid :oops:), yet FF is still remembering the old ones so I have to overtype everytime. I'd assumed, after a period of time, it would ask me whether it wanted me to remember the new password? Nine months on, no joy. Any advice?

In FF, in the top nav row, go into Tools-->Options-->Privacy; there's a Saved Passwords area, where you can view your currently-saved passwords and clear them, if you wish. Hope that helps!

Moving swiftly past your admission of browser-apostasy, if you got to your Firefox "Options" (Under "Tools" in Firefox on Windows, I think) there should be a tab called "Security" - there's an option there to delete your stored passwords. Then, when you retype them to access sites, Firefox should remember the new ones.

We really do need a "techie" board on MyHeartland!

I'm using Linux so I had to stop and think about the different Firefox menu on Windows. That's my excuse and I'm sticking to it! :lol:

Use Foxit Reader. Although i don't know about the latest version, the old one is a single file. I just stick it in the root of the C drive. Run it once, then every PDF file you open from then on will open with Foxit.

Oh, uninstall acrobat first, bloated piece of s**t that it is.

Gets my vote too, been using it for ages. Very fast and doesn't clog up yer machine.
