Thank You everyone!!!
A small complication today I am afraid - the baby and my wife have been taken back into hospital
To cut a long story short, Katie has lost 11% of her birth weight in just 3 days. Whilst newborns are expected to lose weight in the first week, usually a 10% loss in 7 days is considered worrying, so this much loss so quickly was a big concern.
However, after a worrying afternoon of blood tests etc it seems the problem may simply be that my wife was not producing enough milk and so the baby was sucking all she could, but after a while, 'the pub had no beer' (!)
They are both back in hospital for at least a couple of days for monitoring, and breast milk is being supplemented with bottle milk, so hopefully will be back out at the weekend, once Katie's weight is back to an acceptable level.
Not sure if I will sleep too well without them both in the house, so dont be surprised if I am posting into the early hours!!!!

Thoughts are with you Paul, Mrs. Paul and SKOSlette.

4 years ago we had twins, 8 weeks early.
It was a complete mind f***k for the last three months before they were born ,because we knew there was a problem. It was a, will they won't they be OK scenario.
They were 0.935 gs and 1.78 grs when they were born, my fear and terror was extreme and in some ways has never gone. I still cry at some wierd s**t , that I'd never have done before; bloody kids!
I love them with every little fibre of my body, even when they tell me, like today, 'Daddy you're wrong, I don't think your plan is any good'
It's a s**t situation to be in but I'm sure you'll come through fine and even stronger (I could be an agony aunt).
I'm actually sure that the only thing the NHS is good at 100%, is child care I'd vote for them!
Now I need to go and get myself together and be hard for my next round with Wild Bill..
take care
it will be right

Absolutely. Katie will pull through, they can be awkward little blighters early doors. Still, wait til the teen years, then you'll see awkwardness.James Blast wrote:Thoughts are with you Paul, Mrs. Paul and SKOSlette.

thanks (again) all. nothing like a few encouraging words to lift the spirits. I ended up watching 'dave gormans important astrological experiement' until the early hours and nodded off at some point around 3am.
To cut a long day short, the good news is that her weight is going up again and she is now only 6% below her birth weight. If all goes well tomorrow and her blood tests come back ok, they should be home tomorrow night or sunday.
