Part of me hopes that Carl is keeping the new Nephs lineup so quiet because 1 or more of the origonal lineup is involved.
Maybe the "ghost musicians" are invisible or hard to get to come to band practice.

I just think the only way Porl will ever feel compelled to get in contact with Karl and reform is if he knows it will be because lots of people would really get into the spirit and have lots of funGood luck Maisey, your gonna need it

If I was Mr McCoy i'd ask NFD to do the gig while I stood at the bar and got paid for getting pissed.Maisey wrote:Part of me hopes that Carl is keeping the new Nephs lineup so quiet because 1 or more of the origonal lineup is involved.

Dream Disciples over Rosetta Stone? NFD over the Nephs?
Next you'll be saying that all in all your glad its the M!ssion that release albums, not the sisters
I actually love the m*****n, the dreamies and NFD, I just don't reckon they top their previous incarnations

I think you will find that the 'spirit of fun' was chemically removed from Mr King some time ago - even by his own admission he's not the most social of people, even now. So to wish he would like to reform Rosetta for other people's enjoyment would be stretching the imagination. Aside from which, Karl has no intention of any sort of 'reformation' - this he told me only last month or so.Maisey wrote:I just think the only way Porl will ever feel compelled to get in contact with Karl and reform is if he knows it will be because lots of people would really get into the spirit and have lots of funGood luck Maisey, your gonna need it
I don't want to be a killjoy or appear to be a defeatist, Rosetta Stone were indeed a mighty fine band, and I was proud to be a part of it, but I'm afraid that you have more chance of getting a blow job off Anna Nicole Smith ( as she is now) than of seeing Rosetta Stone on stage together again.
But, you never know, if the mood takes him and you can never say never, an incarnation of Rosetta may one day appear at a venue near you! Whose to say?

"flogging a dead horse" is the expression that suits in this situation
But ya' know. The internet gives us the power to be heard. And I want Porl to hear me when I say "Rosetta Stone were awesome" so I'm making some noise about it.
Hopefully some minds will change. If they don't what have I lost? I'm still the same long haired goon sitting happily in middle England with his stack of old records.
Maybe tomorrow someone else will discover them, and get as much pleasure as I have, considering how good they were, I don't find this hard to believe. Maybe no good will come of it, but maybe one day the right people will feel inspired
What can one fan do? Almost nothing to be perfectly honest. But it doesn't kill in me the desire to express myself.
Put it another way, we all know that Von won't ever release another album, or even record the "new" stuff. But we still want to hear it, and we'll shout loudly about it hoping that someone listens, because its better than being silent. We don't lose anything, and we gain a lot by gathering together in pubs, clubs and the web, just to bitch about new material and wave our arms around to Temple of Love whenever they play it
Its the same passion for music that makes me want to keep bugging the Rosetta Stone lot

I gotta applaud you for your passion Mr Maisey. Indeed you may be one voice - but hasn't every movement or stance been started by 'one voice' ?Maisey wrote:"flogging a dead horse" is the expression that suits in this situation

Many bands vow to never ever re-form for one reason or another. But they do!And sometimes the reasons maybe it's monetary or just the lure of the lime light once more. Maybe it's to appease their legions of lyal fans - or even just for the vibe of being on-stage with your old mates, Just look at the Police, The Eagles, Van Halen ( that one's stumbling at the moment but it will come good one day). And rumour has it, Led Zeppelin.
Porl may never be able to persuade Karl to make the time to re-ignite Rosetta for 'one gig' But it doesn't mean that Porl may not take up the guitar again and 'bang out some old tunes'.
This forum that we all contribute to. Is based solely on the memories of a band once described by Hussey as 'shooting star - that shone brightly then faded away ' and the faint hope that one day before we all die that they put aside their differences and play that ONE show to lay so many of our ghosts to rest - To once more hear where it all began and why we're still here today - If it wasn't for the Sisters, for instance, this thread wouldn't even exist. The last time we saw the three them on-stage together was such a sad ending and left a bitter taste in the mouth once the house lights went up. To see a band perform, knowing before hand that this is the very last time you will ever experience them this way is crushing - I saw the Ramones in Brixton in 1996 on their final ever European tour and it was an amazing show yet saddening even more.
Rosetta Stone at the Marquee shows in London and at the Duchess of York in Leeds will forever be with me. I just wish you'd had the chance to see them then too.
But keep pestering Mr King about it- I'm sure deep down he's smiling. Very deep down
Keep the faith Maisey.

There are so many people that seem genuinely eager to support my lust for that band, although they themselves seem to have succumbed to reality long ago.
David, have you considered getting in contact with Porl?
From what I have read into your own words, you left some tension behind when you jumped ship, but we all sit and think why can't von and wayne just put it all behind them, is it so hard to wish that the old manager and the old singer would make friends? Or would it be more like 1995 and nowhere?
I see the poll up on the website as a good sign, obviously Porl wants to see who is interested in "his old band". In his own words "he is curious". Maybe now is the time to strike so to speak and get a larger ball rolling?
I have the promo eye for the main chance 12" single on right now. I just finished Darkside. You know in the bass break that sample screams out "I BELIEVE!" ? Well I feel a bit like that.
The difference is I would never preface that with "you son of a bitch" you bunch of kind and supportive old goths don't deserve that. That goes to you Ramone, it goes to the whole heartland crew, it goes to the chap that runs our local goth club at barely a profit. It goes to the people that put on Whitby twice a year. It even goes to Porl, who has been kind enough to answer my questions without making me feel like a dipsh!t.
