I have to go to this, I know... I have spent the past couple of months berating myself for missing them in November.
But what sh!tty timing! Gannin' for another Lowland Invasie the previous weekend, and going to see Neubauten in London on the 24th of the month.
Argh!
(I will be there though. All of 'em. I just won't have a penny to buy anyone a drink )

In its 20-year history Bradford Rio has been one of the UK's few through and through rock clubs, and the popular venue is now coming to Leeds!
Opening on the site of the old Heaven & Hell club (Merrion Street), the new venue, aptly named Rio's Leeds, will feature one large 1,000 capacity gig room and a smaller 400 capacity Live Lounge.
Venue owner Paul Sewell explains the opening of a second Rio's venue: "I wanted a new challenge, and I'm a Leeds boy myself so it will be a homecoming for me, I'm very excited and proud to be opening a venue in my home city".
For the move to Leeds, Rio's is ditching its rock image in favour of something more alternative, although it still aims to bring more stand-out touring bands to the city. In charge of bookings is Tony White, formerly bar manager of the world famous Camden Underworld in London.
Local bands will be given the opportunity to support the bigger acts, as well as have their music played in the plasma screens in the Live Lounge. The venue will also be available for hire.
The opening launch night is Friday, 6th April, with a host of well-known bands already booked to play from the Saturday onwards. To find out more about the venue, the opening night and the benefits of registering, visit www.lookoutleeds.com and www.rios-leeds.com.

Cor blimey, that all sounds rather ace . Slap bang in the middle of town too, and most decidely handy for any number of fine curry houses practically on the doorstep. Nice.

I had a curry in Bradford c. 1981, formica tables, nae cutlery, nae choice, it was seagull curry and chapatis, take it or leave it. Wish I'd left it, tasted reet 'orrible and gave me the Brad Pitts.

Erm, that place wasn't my idea!!! Zigzags or Hot Trots or whatever it's called. That's a strictly Derek R establishment. Cheeky mare.boudicca wrote:Note to Darryl - Dave's idea of a fine curry house is decidedly suspect

You could just roll down Vicar Lane from Leeds Rio and end up in Shabab...

Or you could simply walk across the tiny one lane road to Tripti, Elephant, or that Lebanese gaff. You could probably get someone to carry you if you liked (or needed).markfiend wrote:You could just roll down Vicar Lane from Leeds Rio and end up in Shabab...
Either way, I'm gonna check out tkt prices, but this looks like a goer.

Last time in London it was about £18, but that's with the usual London "you're in London so you can pay 25% more" tax...

I'm going to Laibach, I'm going to Laibach! (and think of England, possibly )
Gonna get a tkt on Saturday, all being well. Gottyboy, if you can make it up, you know the score regarding accommodation .
As for the gig, a 90 minute mix of Das Spiel Ist Aus would do nicely.
