This looks bogus to me

Does exactly what it says on the tin. Some of the nonsense contained herein may be very loosely related to The Sisters of Mercy, but I wouldn't bet your PayPal account on it. In keeping with the internet's general theme nothing written here should be taken as Gospel: over three quarters of it is utter gibberish, and most of the forum's denizens haven't spoken to another human being face-to-face for decades. Don't worry your pretty little heads about it. Above all else, remember this: You don't have to stay forever. I will understand.

Got this e-mail today, my ISP was NTL now Virgin. Something about it doesn't ring true, especially the last line.

Dear Member:

We apologize if u had any trouble accessing our services. In the last month we have worked day and night, for the improvement of our services. We want to do our best, and make it as simple as possible for us, but especially for you, our valued customer. From the beginning of this year we have had a big number of solicitations and because of this it was necessary to replace the old database server with a new one, which has the information about our new clients, and where some of our clients are going to get moved. Please verify your information until March 20, 2007 and help us avoid the lock-out of your services. We require all old accounts to verify their information on file with us. To verify your account details now, please visit our secure server webform by clicking the hyperlink below:

Most definitely is, the link doesn't work when you type it in..

is the link the same as that when you put your cursor over it??

Definitely looks like a bit of phishing...
I give you the finger but you want the whole hand...

Sounds very dubious to me, James, I'd forward it on to Virgin.

the image in the e-mail was the first thing that set alarm bells ringing, it's way too fuzzy, then the opening line: We apologize if u had any trouble

My advice is move to a real communications company (they're in the phonebook under B)They'll give you fantastic service, 8mb even though you're only paying for 1mg.20gb download limit even though you're only paying for 3gb.No correspondence or interest from them as long as you pay your bills. This Virgin mob, don't they make soft drinks or something and aren't they responsable for huge carbon emmisions from their aeroplanes.
B*****ds.Tubular Bells .....FFS.

Marvelous! I think I'll pop over and take up residence there myself, then, if you lot don't mind. Since the position of village idiot's been thoughtfully filled by Mr. FFS, I'll gladly take on the role as village side-show act. Hope my tutu and sequencing-proggie tunes fit the bill!

No, really, I'm serious about this. :von:
