A couple of things from my collection

THE place for your Sisters-related comments, questions and snippets of Sisters information. For those who do not know, The Sisters of Mercy are a rock'n'roll band. And a pop band. And an industrial groove machine. Or so they say. They make records. Lots of records, apparently. But not in your galaxy. They play concerts. Lots of concerts, actually. But you still cannot see them. So what's it all about, Alfie? This is one of the few tightly-moderated forums on Heartland, so please keep on-topic. All off-topic posts will either be moved or deleted. Chairman Bux is the editor and the editor's decision is final. Danke.

Hi, and greetings from Norway! Just found this forum. What a great place! I used to collect Sisters stuff back in the mid to late eighties (still do, but not as intensly), and I thought I'd share info on some stuff I've not seen mentioned elsewhere.

Around '86 I borrowed money off a fellow student (thanks Ole Christian!) and bought a five LP set called "Stonehenge". Back then I hadn't heard of this bootleg and thought "A five record set? Must be a nice collection of live stuff then". I was quite dissapointed when it arrived and turned out to be five of the same record on different coloured vinyl (Black, white, yellow, blue and green) . I was told only 15 of these sets were made. Anyone else got one?

A fellow collector once told me there was some uncertainty about whether or not SOM played at Vika Theater in Oslo on 16th May '85. Although I didn't see them myself, I'm pretty sure they did. A press photo of the show was the runner up in the "best live photo" contest in the Norwegian music paper PULS (or maybe it had changed it's name to BEAT already, not sure). Anyway, I managed to get a copy from the photographer which, for some obscure artistic reason, he'd decided to tint blue! Still nice though.

Sorry if these things are well known, I haven't read all the posts yet. Anyway, great forum. So glad I found it.

Hi Psy and welcome! 8)

The Sisters played Gothenburg on 15th May 85 and Stockholm on the 17th so I guess Oslo isn't too far out of the way for the day between.

The (admittedly incomplete) official gigography (here) doesn't have anything for the 16th, but that doesn't mean it didn't happen.

Welcome neighbour. :D

I've got one of the Stonehenge LPs myself, blue vinyl.
I have actually never heard about the five LP set.

I'll give you a fiver for it. :innocent:

i think i've seen some site long ago listing the Oslo gig, probably it was Christer's, but can't remember if he had a recording of it or not. :/ Probably not.

Of course I'll read every single post. If I'm staring at the screen my boss thinks I'm working, so just give me a day or two :)

I traded some stuff with Christer a few years ago and I remember he was trying to track down someone with a tape of the Oslo show. Don't know if he was successful though. Vika Theateret was a really run-down place and was demolished some weeks later I think.

No problem. I've uploaded it to the photo gallery. Quality isn't the best with my 10 year old scanner, but at least you can have a look.

It would look good on a bootleg LP cover.. sadly, I can't see there being any more Sisters LP boots ever being made..

Actually, does anyone know what the last Sisters bootleg LP to be made was?

Do we mean "bootleg LP" as in "on vinyl" here, or just bootlegs in general?
If I told them once, I told them a hundred times to put 'Spinal Tap' first and 'Puppet Show' last.

I guess whoever told me spelt it wrong, I'll amend my data. :D
I've not heard of any recording existing.
