Getting to know you...

Does exactly what it says on the tin. Some of the nonsense contained herein may be very loosely related to The Sisters of Mercy, but I wouldn't bet your PayPal account on it. In keeping with the internet's general theme nothing written here should be taken as Gospel: over three quarters of it is utter gibberish, and most of the forum's denizens haven't spoken to another human being face-to-face for decades. Don't worry your pretty little heads about it. Above all else, remember this: You don't have to stay forever. I will understand.

Dear Heartlanders,

seems quite a lot of people on here know each other in the real world, however lots of us dont.
Probably pass each other on the street and dont even know it....

How about a getting to know you thread... post a pic of yourself, maybe even tell us a few things about yourself? Your Job, aspirations etc..whats the significance of your avatar ?You get the idea.

Maybe we can turn into the masons or something...

sticking my neck out here so be nice.

I don't THINK I know anybody here in Real Life, but it certainly feels like I know a few.

Sinnie I remember from the early 90s Dominion days (she had the coolest signature on earth back then - not likely to forget it). A few others too.

JB and the rest of the Scots crew always seem like nice fun people. Hoping to get to meet them this year.

Surprising to come across folks here like yrself Moody and Spigel who are fellow O'Heartlanders, even if from a distance. If you're ever back in De Ould Sod, do drop me a line and we'll have a pint. :D
If I told them once, I told them a hundred times to put 'Spinal Tap' first and 'Puppet Show' last.

- Not unless you live in Chicago, hahaha! :P

- Piccies of me may be found in the HL gallery. I'm the Amazonian (well, you can't really tell from the photos, I guess) black-haired one who makes very silly faces. At least I'm not giving the photographer the finger in these pix, which is my usual m.o.

- "Job" = whatever I can find to do in which people will actually give me money for doing it. Right now, I'm freelancing as a proofreader at a very large advertising agency here in town. I have no "career aspirations," as I hate everything. Well, that is to say, I hate everything at which *I* might feasibly earn a living. I'm not a musician or a model, unfortunately, and I loathe anything whatsoever to do with "business" and "finance" and "corporations," so everything I'm stuck doing is poorly-paid rubbish. Hmpf.

- I aspire to have an aspiration.

- My avatar is my doll, Juniper (whose real name is Blythe, but who acquired a new moniker from a former...uhhh...something. Not sure *exactly* what he was, but...yeah). :von:

Nope - only found out about it while hanging around on IRC chat whilst at college in '96, because of a certain bloke named George on said chat (you know, our dear George, the legendary giant insect?)... :notworthy: I had no knowledge of this "online" stuff in '90-'91 - my parents were neo-Luddites, fer chrissakes. :von:

The ugly fecker below is indeed me

for those who know me and realise that this delightful picture is a fair representation of how i look...Hello!!

Image

my Job?...i'm a destroyer of books...a modern day black shirt if you will...i work for Random House publishing group [returns dept] and i have the greatest pleasure in sending thousands of books to the shredder every day...in doing so i am saving hundreds of trees every year as the books are recycled...

my avatar is an actual sign on a resturant window...i have a damn good idea why anyone would want to lick the windows  (but as i have already been told that I am a *sick bastard* for talking to people in the next cubuical while having a poo...i'll leave this to your imagination  )

hugs
Dim, through the misty panes and thick green light,
As under a green sea, I saw him drowning.

As for myself, I am south of London, nearest place of any consequence is Guildford.
Thats me in my Avatar :)

This pic has been put up before, but its the best one I have on photobucket at the moment. Its me in my WHSmiths shirt :D

I hadn't seen that kermit video yet, quite groovy I find even if the lyrics are shallow  :notworthy:

Well, as for me, I've met a fair lot of you already by now, I presume (though I don't do ticking of )

From 't Stad (that's probably Antwerp to the most of you), err, student still (accountancy - how interesting!). My avatar is Peter Gabriel as Magog, in the Apocalypse in 9/8 bit of Supper's Ready, that epic song from Foxtrot (by Genesis obviously) :notworthy:

Aspirations? To have a good ole' time!

Must be a pic or two (in orange tee ) of me around here but can't really be bothered to look it up right now

Indeed. 17 and keen. I turn 18 in July. I have found that over here the goth and industrial clubs don't tend to ask for ID if you look like you are supposed to be there, and those are the only types of clubs I ever go to .

Although the legal age of consent over this side of the pond is 16, thankfully.
