Ah, well, U is mainly Flemish, a bit like the French say vous and the Germans Sie - so considered slightly more polite, though I usually do it the other way round

- whereas jou is more or less more A(B)N and more commonly used in the Netherlands. Flemish people also tend to say gij/ge, but Dutchies consider that to be a more biblical term, in Flanders it's just the third step, even more informal
