Why the hatred?

Does exactly what it says on the tin. Some of the nonsense contained herein may be very loosely related to The Sisters of Mercy, but I wouldn't bet your PayPal account on it. In keeping with the internet's general theme nothing written here should be taken as Gospel: over three quarters of it is utter gibberish, and most of the forum's denizens haven't spoken to another human being face-to-face for decades. Don't worry your pretty little heads about it. Above all else, remember this: You don't have to stay forever. I will understand.

Reading all the comments about The m*****n here I've come to the conclusion that 90% of people here despise/hate/don't like Hussey.

Why is this? (Too impress senor AE maybe.)

I never liked his music, but I could name much worse things.

I don't hate The Mish, I don't really care tbh. I even have the first records (up to Carved in Sand). I don't think Wayne brought much to the band anyway, I find most of his songs pretty dull.
And it's always nice to have a buffoon to play with. Wayne serves this purpose quite well. ;D

Loved the early stuff, hated the mid/latter stuff. The current new one sounds awful.

It turned for me when Wayne was pissed on the James Whale show and made a right nob of himself - the bubble just seemed to burst.

Still play the early stuff though - I'm not embarrassed about that !

dont get me wrong, the mish have been known to bang out a great tune on more than one occaision. but early on their merit came from the overt sisters-influence on their sound

unfortunately they played on some of the more cheesy elements of the goth sub culture, and thus a lot of the more punky sisters fans thought they were, as best, just silly.

as the sisters elemet to their sound decreased with time, they stopped being relevent for a lot of fans who came to them as sisters-offshoots

they seemed to pridet hemselves on dumb-ass rock cliches, much as the sisters did back then, but you always got the impression that there was more to the sisters than that, where as with the mish you unfortunately didnt. dumb-ass was about as far as it went.

i think the influence that the spat between hussey, adams & von has had on sisters fans these days is way overplayed.

i just dont think that the mish are relevent to the vast majority of sisters fans anymore. thet fact that hussey used to play the "clown prince" role just made the band even further away than what the sisters were about.

i love everything they did till carved in sand
where they sounded like u2 and Hussey looked like John fking Lennon which in my book
is one of the worst things one can do
then came "masque" and they sounded like the cure and that s the second worst thing to do, and i stopped listening

86 till 88 they were ace!!
and Hinkler was a fine guitar player

also liked the new tracks so i ll give a try

I'll still bang out First Chapter and Children in the car on a hot summers (global warming ~ we're all going to die ~ spring) day like today. It's good music to motor to. 8)

I'm not into the politics (Sis v Mish) other than to say the Mish went seriously w@nk after the first two albums. Personal opinion. :wink:

For me, the only m*****n albums of value were
"The First CHapter" and "Childtren".

Everything else was either "best of what didn't make
it to the sisters turned into Pant ermine" or
watered down pop-esque non-sense that I didnt care about.;

I find "Children" the most complete, coherant,
original m*****n work they ever did. It haS a nice
atmosphere, and some of the songs are quite good.

Compare "bury me deep" to "heaven and earth" and it
almost feels like a logical step.
