I'm in no matter familiar with the Eldritch/Morrison case, hence my question: what monetary income should she expect after leaving the band if she didnt co-write any songs? I can't see her being credited on Floodland anywhere.
She probably got a contract to play live shows/TV appearances and do some promo and thats about it.

I imagine she expected to be paid for performing on the albums Gift and Floodland. As you say though, she isn't credited, neither is any other musician for that matter, like whoever was playing the guitar on Floodland. Eldo gets out of that by saying she never actually performed anything,and couldn't play bass for toffee.

She wouldn't have realised no actual money was coming her way for some time. When she found out, she was stuffed.
People tend to believe her, because it was Eldritch who sent forth those little venomous barbs he's so good at, and she kept quiet untill long after it had blown over.
Eldritch didn't do anything wrong legally, but you'd be hard-pressed to twist that episode in a way that makes him appear remotely pleasant.

maybe she expected more from someone she thought of as a friend? or maybe she just liked the idea of being part of the sisters when eldritch asked her, so never stopped to consider the business implications? or maybe its a simple as she fancied him and never stopped to consider that it might all go tits up...

not sure how much of the original leeds scene she would have been privvy to or involved with - probably not much if eldritch was doing the london/hamburg thing a lot around that time - but given the sisters' origins i think the informal approach to stuff that came from the scene would have gone some way to shape eldritch's approach to getting session musos and friends (of friends) to help out on recordings etc...

as i understand it, around that scene it was all very informal. there was always a general feeling that stuff was done on trust, and the whole burley park (re: goth) scene was founded on favours and bands helping other bands (lending kit, staying on sofas, support slots, etc)

as far as i can tell, anyway...

if pat was invited to join the sisters it may be that she simply fell foul of the general air of informality (ie: slackness ) surrounding it all, and thus never checked out her legal position.

if you think you know & like someone, and they invite you to join them on their "ride", you wouldnt necessarily expect to then need a lawyer to get some cash & living expenses out of it... courtesy would suggest that at least your basic living costs and a salary would have been covered for you

i have no idea what's there to like about her. i'm inclined to think there was some positive qualities to her that aren't apparent to the casual observer such as myself since Eldritch had her for awhile, but apart from that i think she looked bad, is incredibly stupid and simply utterly irrelevant.

Fopp Unsigned Network Enters New Phase
The Fopp Unsigned Network enters a new, exciting phase this January with the aim of giving even more emerging music acts a step up the career ladder by offering a simple way to sell music in their local Fopp store and get paid for sales quickly.We have appointed Fopp Unsigned Reps in each Fopp store across England, Scotland and Wales to administer the network in that local area and act as a point of contact for the acts.
Cds will be sold in the act’s local store, stocking up to a maximum of 50 acts at any time on rotation , so that Fopp customers can be confident that the network is hosting the very best unsigned artists.Sales from the best selling acts will be collated to form the Fopp Unsigned Chart online at www.fopp.co.uk. This will be based on weekly sales, and customers will be available to buy these titles online too, whilst they stay in the chart. The first chart will be loaded during March. The response from customers , artists and industry alike in previous years has been fantastic, with over 500 acts submitting their material in the since the initiative first launched in 2003. In response to valuable feedback from artists and customers, we have introducing some improvements to this re launched service for 2007. As well as receiving monthly payments, bands will also get the chance to be featured on the Fopp website with downloads of their music available too. This will be an excellent new way for people to investigate these new artists before making a more informed purchase in store.The application process has also gone through some changes and the Network will now undergo administration via the unsigned reps in local store . The local store will accept applications / process returned stock and administrate payments direct with the bands representative. Applications forms are available to download or pick one up instore.

Music Zone in Lincoln has been taken over by Fopp, and two people in the shop confirmed that they will be stocking unsigned artists soon, so I should go back in a couple of weeks and they'll help with organizing it.

I'd love to say I'll apply for the competition, however I am still (just) under 18, and thus ineligible. Plus, since everything's done entirely on computer (with vocals as a bit of an afterthought) at the moment, doing it all in a proper studio may not be worthwhile. Thanks anyway, though, much appreciated.

Plus, with the closing of one of the only good venues in Lincoln, I severely doubt my new band, when we have some more songs ready, will play in Lincoln at all.

It could not be the 'charming' Vienna's?, Hopefully it played out it's last gasp many moons ago , or has it carried on under some other guise , still attempting to entice young people to enter, then relieving them of their hard earned wedge and sending them to the killing floor ...allegedly

I didn't really like it much.

We have the Duke of Wellington (wouldn't play there if paid, big crowd, but a wanker who runs the night, and the crowd themselves aren't much better.. it was the pub where everyone from school last year went, because they knew they'd get served when they were 15, and nobody'd bother them if they got stoned around the back).
There's the Travellers' Rest.. good place, but nobody goes there. No PA.
Christophers is the one which is closing down.. large place, own PA (fairly poor, but at least they have one), no crowd. Ever.

Drill Hall no longer puts on anything "punk, metal or hard indie" (yes, actual quote).. so they just put on tribute bands and folk bands.
Theatre Royal is for the nostalgia-tour circuit.
The Engine Shed is WAY too big for any band with a fanbase of less than about 700.

So if anyone knows of pubs/events elsewhere (Leeds, please) that need bands, do PM me.
