Euro-vision thing

Does exactly what it says on the tin. Some of the nonsense contained herein may be very loosely related to The Sisters of Mercy, but I wouldn't bet your PayPal account on it. In keeping with the internet's general theme nothing written here should be taken as Gospel: over three quarters of it is utter gibberish, and most of the forum's denizens haven't spoken to another human being face-to-face for decades. Don't worry your pretty little heads about it. Above all else, remember this: You don't have to stay forever. I will understand.

You'll find a few mentions toward the end of the "Watching...." thread - I liked the Finland one too.....and don't forget the Russian knee-sock girls, though that has nothing to do with their tune

I really liked Serbia s song and Ukrane s as well.
England managed to come up again with the worst song. Greece s song was dreadfull
a lot of metal orientated songs, was fun though

Verdict:
1.Knee-sock girls: boring, not sexy at all, song sucked goat b*lls, been there/done that, hated it the first time around when it was (insert boring all-girl band/Avril/whomever here)...

b.Disturbing/intriguing, mind-blowing eye-candy, *awesome* sound, HOLY HELL, those guys are HOT! *Drools*
That's it, I'm moving to Finland. \m/ ;D    :innocent: :von:

I managed not to watch any of it. Yay me.

sweden :notworthy:

take half a dozen riffs from all your fave Glam songs and string them together, then throw in a bit of the riff from "love grows where my rosemary goes" for good measure, and camp it all up on a spinning stage.

Knee sock girls= Sugarski Babes

This is the first year I have watched without Wogan's twisted & occasionally outrageously bigotted quips (anyone remember him saying all Hungarians were gypsies??).
These & the fact every year each host nation tries to be a shamelessly spectacular as possible (& usually failing) are what make it watchable for me. The music is always a pile of cr@p, but for me that's not important.
Last year it was subtitled in Hungarian, so all my friends could see what was so funny (or offensive).
This year the cable company in the town where I live swapped BBC Prime for BBC World, so I got it in Hungarian this year on a local channel :| .

For my part, it is always a complete technical & artistic mess & the presenters are usually what appear to be recovering from lobotomies.
That stupid bitch in the pink dress this year made me want to go to Finland............. & wring her scrawny fcuking neck.

I missed the knee sock girls 'cos I was chatting with you lot :D
Cheers.

Krissa Salminen. She's a pretty big celebrity in Finland, basically plays a comic bimbo. I once had the great misfortune of being stuck behind her at the checkin at Helsinki Vanta. It took fifteen minutes for her to small talk with the staff and load her digustingly neon pink luggage on the conveyor.

British entry was hysterically funny. We all know Eurovisions biggest fans in the UK are our gay community, so the fact a song like that got picked is a surprise to nobody! My Finnish girlfriend was particularly amused by the lyric "something to suck on whilst we go down sir?". I was more surprised by how shiny the band looked, like they were made out of plastic..
I'm glad Finland didn't win though. When Lordi won it was in the newspapers for months, then there were Lordi credit cards "Nyt!!Lordikortti!!", and Lordi cola even! Doubt Katrina and the Waves were offered any sponsorship deals after their win..
Oh, and the Serbian lady looked like one of those scary lesbian truck-drivers.

After all the interesting comments it almost makes me wish I had cable/satelite/any TV but then here in the USA it is all crap; so called reality shows and sitcoms. not worth $50.00+ a month to get. now if only there was something new on DVD worth watching.
