I'm really sorry to hear that.
If it makes you feel any better, I rescued an 8-10 week old kitten from a truck engine last week. My wife and I took her home (we were on vacation in the Texas hill country when I found her) and are currently trying to get her to get along with our adult cat, Emergency Meat. It hadn't been going so well, but tonight they seem to have behaved, and even played with each other a bit. Being from Vilnius, my wife named the kitten Amber, because--much like a real piece of amber--we had to clean off a whole lot of dirt (not to mention bugs) before we got to the important part.

Sympathies, Silence. It's never easy, losing a friend like that.
Sultan, your cat is called Emergency Meat?

Oh feck.
Sorry to hear that SIP.
If my furry little mate died I would be inconsolable.
9 years a pretty good innings.

Sorry to hear that mate.
We lost one of ours in December 2005, after 13 years, and it still hurts every day.

Very sorry for your loss.
I lost my cat in late 2002 while I was staying in Oxford. My family called me from Strasbourg and told me that Indy (said cat) had been run over by a car. I was just devastated. Indy was only two years old.
Then came Pluton.

Sorry to hear your news.
I know how you feel, my beloved cat of 11 years went missing Feb 4th, and despite our efforts to find him for 2 long heartbreaking months we never found him.
Still keep thinking he's gonna walk into the room any moment... very sad.
All the best to you SIP during this difficult time.

And it's a big shame that cats can't live as long as humans, isn't it.
SIP - get another one, quick. Preferably a poor one, say from a kennels. It should cheer you up a little bit.

I'm with Emma on that. The only way to get over the hump is to get a new cat, preferably a very cute and silly one that'll cheer you up. Cats are good at cheering you up when you badly need it._emma_ wrote: SIP - get another one, quick. Preferably a poor one, say from a kennels. It should cheer you up a little bit.

I'll have words with Topsy, Snowball, and Spy and make sure they show her the good nap spots.
