YCBTO Society of Disapproval

THE place for your Sisters-related comments, questions and snippets of Sisters information. For those who do not know, The Sisters of Mercy are a rock'n'roll band. And a pop band. And an industrial groove machine. Or so they say. They make records. Lots of records, apparently. But not in your galaxy. They play concerts. Lots of concerts, actually. But you still cannot see them. So what's it all about, Alfie? This is one of the few tightly-moderated forums on Heartland, so please keep on-topic. All off-topic posts will either be moved or deleted. Chairman Bux is the editor and the editor's decision is final. Danke.

Can we go back on topic please?

YCBTO is utter PISH! Rock 'n' Roll pastiche that's not even good for a knowing wink or a laugh.

Oh and MODS, seems to be some new spammers here, can you ban them from this thread?

And just to push a point home:

THE LYRICS:

First off: the folky blues drivel:

All God's children give good phone
I called Jesus, he's not home

Then, the mushy Brian Adams-pop drivel:

So I'm so pleased to talk to you
Trees and walks I love them too

The hippie-rant:

Threatened species, they adore me
Flower children never bore me

The hardcore-pr0n-always-sells bit:

But all the things you share are
Better left unsaid
When you can give me head
And run your fingers through my hair

Scissor Sisters singalong:

Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, you could be the one, we can meditate
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, you could be the one, let's call it fate
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, you could be the one, to get your flowers pressed
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, you could be the one, just get undressed

Manowar Battle Cry:

Ahhh I'm so glad to find you here
Mystic people, they're so dear
I don't like the rest
Your sign's the best

Sisters Lyrics Recycled:

Whatever it is, I'm most impressed
IIIII don't need to understand
The laying on of hands
I'm in a hurry to get my collar straight
Cause life is short, and I can't wait

To please the role-play nerds without a life this was added:

So don't worry about the state of this pretty little thing in the armour plate

kinky lines? CHECK!

I'm so pleased that you believe
Now open up a little let the good times in
Mmm we're going for a ride
Destiny can't be denied

for good measure, let's repeat that pr0n stuff again, more sex sells more eh?:

But all those precious things are better left unsaid
When you can give me head and run your fingers through my hair

Can't go wrong to end your stupid song with a Beatles-quote:

Love...
Is all you need.

Oh me, oh my, how I LOVE the Sisters and every song they EVER made, but how I LOATHE this thing! So sorry to tread on toes here, but if itnAklipse is allowed in General Chat, I can do it here from time to time ;)

a sense of humour (humor for oor Amerikan viewers) is required here
"And when you start to think about death, you start to think about what's after it. And then you start hoping there is a God. For me, it's a frightening thought to go nowhere".

the Mod, known round these parts as markfiend, has far better discretion and taste

apart from all the metalwork, obviously ;D

I humbly join this side of the argument.

YCBTO is just plain awful.
There is no saving grace for this song, it is indeed, poo. :( and that makes me sad... but we all have off days.

Aye, totally agree one more vote cast to bin it entirely.

laughable that this thread and it's relatives are still page one of sisters chat....must mean that the chairman is elsewhere better engaged... :?:

<<<thinks: wouldn't it be ace if this summer's opener was YCBTO>>>>
Well I was handsome and I was strong
And I knew the words to every song.
"Did my singing please you?"
"No! The words you sang were wrong!"

Not a bad thought.
Then we could be fully satisfied after that first (cracker of a) song & get back to the bar & a conversation.
Cheers.
