Dr. Jeep has a haunting chill in its chorus, like a solitary cry over dark woods in a winter night, wich I like. A lot. It is especially effective in the extended version of the single, when it just goes on and on. I wasn't too impressed the first time I heard it but it grew on me. The video isn't anything remarkable but it has got its cool moments, I think.
But it's all subjective and not really anything to debate, but maybe it will grow on others too when given a proper chance.

Works horribly live, though - I'm thinking of the Wembley Arena gigs - o.k., the sound was terrible anyway, but that was an idea that was never going to work properly live, unless you had a MUCH better bunch of musicians jamming away...

Not even a "discuss"? Matter of opinion you know.whitesatin wrote:Dr. Jeep is the worst video & song of the sisters.

I fink it's dead atmospheric - bass could do with being a bit louder, and the riff can get on your tits after a while, but the lyrics are kewl, and the chorus keyboards'r kinda fun as well.
The video, perhaps you're right. Nothing compared to the overblown camp of ribbons or the simply stylish DB. But eldy in a white suit hangin from the ceiling? Pathe news? All works for me.

I'd have to say Temple of Love '92 was the worst vid, It was a jive bunny rip off done by WEA, and most of it was taken up with the Doctor Jeep vid, and as for the spinning 3D Logo
Best vid for me Dominion or 1959, but I think Planet will go for Under the Gun ( topless ).
Worst song? They haven't done any, unless you count Waynes demo's that he ended up recording as The M*ss*on

Dominion is easily the best, but 1959? The sunglasses put me off. Far too Elton

Or any of the early WEA videos in truth, although at least Black Planet avoided asking them to do more of the miming along they were so good at...Big Si wrote:I'd have to say Temple of Love '92 was the worst vid, It was a jive bunny rip off done by WEA, and most of it was taken up with the Doctor Jeep vid, and as for the spinning 3D Logo
Worst song(s)? Vision Thing as a whole wasn't quite there for me, though I admit it had it's moments. I Was Wrong. More. Then gently downhill...Big Si wrote:Worst song? They haven't done any, unless you count Waynes demo's that he ended up recording as The M*ss*on
I am a Leeds United fan because I was very naughty in a previous life.
ribbons was good on the album. From what ive heard of it live 'a few bootlegs ) it sounds so empty, so weak. Like theres something missing compared to the songs of the other albumsMrChris wrote:Works horribly live, though - I'm thinking of the Wembley Arena gigs - o.k., the sound was terrible anyway, but that was an idea that was never going to work properly live, unless you had a MUCH better bunch of musicians jamming away...

Oh my god, I think Ribbons, on the night, is the best live song imaginable. It completely moves my world. The (admittledly spruced up) live version on the When You Don't See Me CD single is my all-time-favourite-track-of-all-time-on-any-format-by-anyone-ever. I'm serious! Turn it up loud, and you'll see. It was also the thing I used to hook my first Sisters convert. If Ribbons was a religion, I'd be at least a Bishop...Yes, I'll maybe concede that Vision Thing was a mishmash of an album, perhaps the concept was stretched a little far, but don't touch my Ribbons! Please!

The DB vids cool! I love the grainy black and white thang. Mind you, I just popped home and rewatched Dr Jeep (I am that sad) and must say it's better than I remember - very political and probably even more relevant now than it was then.Black Shuk wrote:The video for Detonation Boulevard is worse.

That confirms it planet m'dear. Ryan - i take back what i just said about ribbons
hamburg 90 version- prettyful
hooray, another convert to the church of ribbons! And believe me, it's worth checking out the When You Don't... version. The CD also contains a nice version of Something Fast, which, if not the best Sisters song ever, is at least Mrs MrChris's favourite...

I love the live something fast. I think it sounds better with the cymbals in the quiet bit.

I would say I think Temple of Love '92 is the worst video, but I've never seen Dr. Jeep so I can't judge it against that (that's me then, fishing for help).
Have you ever seen Walk Away? F*ckin' horrible, in that mid-eighties kinda way. Funny, and probably not intentionally so. But telling in regards to the state of the band.
As for the song itself, I hated it immediately--in fact, the only Vision Thing song I really liked on first listen was "I Was Wrong"--but it grew on me. I quite like it now.

Yeh, both Walk Away and NTTC are utter rubbish. Not merely enough that they be bad, it's quite obvious that there's not even an effort being made for them to be good. Of the earlier vids, Body & Soul is kinda cool, and the Whistle Test FALAA is quite a mesmerising performance. Black Planet wins though.
My faves overall are Lucretia (cool factory, very Terminator-esque) and - yes - Dr. Jeep. The rest of them don't really do it for me though. Funny how people can have different opinions, eh?

yep.
unfortunately,VT is my least favorite sisters album.i might tried thousand times to listen to like it,..........
I hate to apply the word like'worst' to any sisters song, but recently downroaded that video....It makes the song probably more ridiculous!!
sometimes i see alots of foolish videos that ruins the images of songs..maybe thats why i never was a fan of all the mtv- kinds of music channels.
Von looks like a wacky stupid to me.sorry.
But he looked always gorgeous in other clips.(like my fave Lucretia. )
