The Tide Strikes Back

THE place for your Sisters-related comments, questions and snippets of Sisters information. For those who do not know, The Sisters of Mercy are a rock'n'roll band. And a pop band. And an industrial groove machine. Or so they say. They make records. Lots of records, apparently. But not in your galaxy. They play concerts. Lots of concerts, actually. But you still cannot see them. So what's it all about, Alfie? This is one of the few tightly-moderated forums on Heartland, so please keep on-topic. All off-topic posts will either be moved or deleted. Chairman Bux is the editor and the editor's decision is final. Danke.

Better? :innocent:
On both accounts, I don't care and I don't have to choose, as long as it's the same cock doing the work.

I should never have brought up the colours thing. :urff: <facepalm>
it's just too damn subjective...

True, but joking aside it is interesting - synesthesia and all that.

I do genuinely see Possession as dark blue!

Well, if we're onto the colours of songs, I'll contribute:

Black Planet - Dark red, with flecks of black.
Walk Away - Grey, slight blue tinge.
No Time To Cry - Black
A Rock And A Hard Place - Red. The demo version is silky red.
Marian - Navy blue (ironic)
FALAA - Bright red
Possession - Earthen brown
NWN - Light grey
Amphetamine Logic - Black
SKOS - Fairly dark purple, ripples of crimson

EDIT: I can't believe I posted this...

Depends where you're listening to it - in Finland it's red, in Germany, black, while in Egypt it's white, or so I'm told... :innocent:

black, like white is a non chromatic pigmentation

Colour is the absence of black. ;)

Or from a physics viewpoint:
White is the emission or reflection of photons of light, consisting of all the frequencies in the visible light spectrum. Black is the absorption of all incident photons, with no emission.

personally i think Andrew lived an evolution from a primitive goth rock tipical expession for the start of 80's and in this moment is important the work of the other members of the band. in FALAA the progress is over in a goth stile that only the sisters in this years can express. from the born of sisterhood to vision thing....nothing of important went out...in italian i say "canzonette"....songs for to pennies!!!

50-50, I voted Stranger just for the anguished end part of song.

Her eyes were cobalt red,
Her voice was cobalt blue...

Very early (Damage done single)
Mid-early(Body Electric until Alice EP)
Reptile era(Reptile House EP)
Pre-FALAA era(TOL '83 until No Time to Cry single)(which I think is
reinforced by my opinion that Walk Away and No Time to Cry really
don't sound as much in place as the other FALAA songs)
FALAA era(FALAA)
Gift Era(Gift until the This Corrosion single, of which Torch and Andy's
Colours sound like Gift era songs, This Corrosion more Floodland)
Floodland Era(Floodland and the inherent singles, including Emma, Untitled
, Sandstorm, and Ozymandias)
Vision Thing era(More until Under the Gun, including TOL '92 and You
Could Be the One)
(SSV era maybe?(SSV) I'm still very confused about whether SSV is really
Andy's creation or just his vocals on some techno CD by someone
else)
Recent Years(the new songs, of which Summer will be the first)
just a little mistake: i don't know who and when EMMA was written but certainly it is incuded in the first sisters era, becuse it's on the 83 gigs

the song "Emma" was used rather early on by the Sisters, but by dividing songs into eras I mean the versions that the Sisters released officially; thus the Dominion single was the first time that version appeared.

Emma isn't a Sisters song, it's originally by Hot Chocolate.

Blimey.

Anyway, SKOS for me. Its first, never last, always.
