Most outrageaously freaked out clubs - any ideas ?

Does exactly what it says on the tin. Some of the nonsense contained herein may be very loosely related to The Sisters of Mercy, but I wouldn't bet your PayPal account on it. In keeping with the internet's general theme nothing written here should be taken as Gospel: over three quarters of it is utter gibberish, and most of the forum's denizens haven't spoken to another human being face-to-face for decades. Don't worry your pretty little heads about it. Above all else, remember this: You don't have to stay forever. I will understand.

.......and i don't mean your granny's bingo club (altough if haunted by Von, it could do).
I am going to London, from the 22nd to the 30th of august. I need your help on the nightlife front. Which are the most outrageously freaked out nightclubs, places to hang out ?
Also, would any HLers care to join for a drink - or twelve ?

Torture Garden: A fetish club is a very limiting description of TG because it is a fetish club on one level but a whole lot more on all the others. We are basically about the celebration of sexuality and fantasy in a safe environment. On a basic level TG is a nightclub like most others, however we like to give our customers something different from their clubbing experience. We have top DJs, eclectic music policy, fashion shows, performances, casino, dungeon/playroom, visuals and a crowd that is the most dressed up in the world. Our customers expect the unexpected.

The Devonshire Arms is a lovely, dark pub full of old goffy band and movie posters and silly "scary" props, where the drinks are served up by a guy in full pirate (or whatever it was that he was supposed to be that afternoon!) regalia, who adds adorable special finishing touches to the tops of pints of Guinness... DJs dish up g*th and punk faves, too, and they even take requests! ;D

I thought that I might actually like to live in there, but I doubt they'd have appreciated that... Hmpf.

Yeah !!! Thanks guys. Sinnie, actually I think I have already been there (I'm bad with remembering the names of places/things/people ...). I have very peculiar memories linked to that place. I vaguely remember very bizzarre wordplay games on largely unidenfiable issues and pushing a guy called "Ford" around in a weelchair....strange.

Blast :notworthy: you say "we". Is it your club, you little freak, mhhhh ?

What about Slimelight ? Still good ?

Oddly I was about to ask a similar question so rather than starting a new thread I'll piggyback this one...

Organising a tame stag do in London in February; all getting on a bit so nowt too bawdy and no strippers or lap dancing :) But.. we do want to go to a club that's pretty central and caters for an indie / goth crowd and doesn't really have a dress or age policy (grooms dad is coming :) )

It's a long time since I've been out in London, and the places I used to go to have gone I think, eg Powerhaus, The Garage etc so if anyone can recommend a suitable venue I'd be v. grateful.

Ta muchly.

Hi Rob,

well I planned to hang out a bit in Camden cause that is where my friend is living. Actually was planning to go Devonshire Arms as i was advised on this very forum. Slimelight would have been a choice pick, if nothing better.

Well well, meeting some of your guys would be amazing, altough I know I haven't been around for that long...

This thread reminded me of This Restaurant for the ends of the Unverse.

I'm a London goff, but I'm in Scotland that weekend!

The Slimelight is always good if you like Industrial music, and if you like filthy goth it does a very agreeable trad goth floor a few times a month.

Unfortunately Slimes is the only weekly goth night..

Other places run on a monthly basis, if you go to camden you can pick up a flyer (in the dev most likely!)

Enjoy.
