Rare Lives

THE place for your Sisters-related comments, questions and snippets of Sisters information. For those who do not know, The Sisters of Mercy are a rock'n'roll band. And a pop band. And an industrial groove machine. Or so they say. They make records. Lots of records, apparently. But not in your galaxy. They play concerts. Lots of concerts, actually. But you still cannot see them. So what's it all about, Alfie? This is one of the few tightly-moderated forums on Heartland, so please keep on-topic. All off-topic posts will either be moved or deleted. Chairman Bux is the editor and the editor's decision is final. Danke.

There are certain songs that I (so far, which in my case doesn't mean much)
haven't heard the Sisters play much. Don't know whether they just like playing other songs better, but I noticed
-the Reptile House stuff(except Burn)
-Heartland
-Afterhours
-Blood Money
-Poison Door
-Black Planet
-Amphetamine Logic
-FLood I
-Something Fast
-More
-I Was Wrong
-Under the Gun

are rather sparingly played. And I've never heard Phantom, Bury Me Deep, Some Kind of Stranger, the Gift stuff(except Giving Ground), Torch,
1959. Driven Like the Snow, or Never Land being played.
Can someone point me a few gigs where any of these songs was played?

I'd like to hear Heartland in good quaility but Kiss the Blade wasn't as good as I had hoped- can you name a gig where Heartland was played with excellent quaility?

Non-important corrections to what Badlander said just coz these came to mind immediately:
Valentine in 2003 also
Logic twice in 2001
More wasn't played in 1997
Kiss the Carpet in 2001

The INTRO only to 1959 was played in Birmingham in the 90s. Which leaves not many: Phantom, Bury Me Deep, Torch, Driven Like the Snow. I wouldn't have said the Gift stuff counted anyway. If you want to be a completist, you could add Home of the Hitmen, Sandstorm, Untitled, You Could be the One...

Let's just say, there are more good songs which have been played live but not recorded than the other way around!

Plenty of good quality Heartlands out there - the Trojan Horse bootleg for starters. It was a staple of the live set up until the end of 84 (almost - if not - every single show since it's introduction in 83-ish).
If I told them once, I told them a hundred times to put 'Spinal Tap' first and 'Puppet Show' last.

:?: Really?

Summer, Romeo Down, Come Together, We Are The Same Suzanne, Slept, Crash And Burn, War On Drugs, Will I Dream?, Top Nite Out, Still

All the "new" songs that have been written since Under The Gun (the last song to be released... all the way back in 1993)

(I'm sure I've missed one.)

I mean, of those songs we're pretty sure they will be released one way or another- some day... some day... some day

But Good Things might never see the light :(

There is that excellent quality version from the Peel Sessions someone posted up ages ago.

That's the nearest we'll get to an actually studio version.
