Musical history

Does exactly what it says on the tin. Some of the nonsense contained herein may be very loosely related to The Sisters of Mercy, but I wouldn't bet your PayPal account on it. In keeping with the internet's general theme nothing written here should be taken as Gospel: over three quarters of it is utter gibberish, and most of the forum's denizens haven't spoken to another human being face-to-face for decades. Don't worry your pretty little heads about it. Above all else, remember this: You don't have to stay forever. I will understand.

Just to prove that music didn't start in the 80s......or 70s..or 60s....

Last night I met 92 year old David Honeyboy Edwards after his set at the boardwalk , for once I was extremely humbled.
All I could think was that he was there at the start of popular music. I shook a hand that touched Robert Johnson.
He played songs he wrote in 1929 which was very hard to comprehend.
He first recorded in 1936.
He played and travelled with Robert Johnson & was there when Johnson was poisoned. He's played with Charlie Patton, Howlin' Wolf, Sonny Boy Williamson & the rest.
92 years old and he's still playing guitar and singing. He's just played 6 countries in three weeks & Sheffield was his sixth night on the trot In England.
Unbelievable.

One of him playing and one of him signing my ticket. :notworthy:

Wow - in this day and age that really is hard to grasp.

To think I was chuffed on meeting Martyn Ware and he didn't really kick off writing until nearly 50 years after Edwards did.....and that was 30 years ago.

Respect is very much due and a quiet lie down is needed in order to really balance these dates out. Wild.

Coleridge George Emerson Goode (born November 29, 1914) - played as part of the Ray Ellington Quartet and recorded with Django Reinhart!! :notworthy: :notworthy:

Still gigs, lugging his equipment round in the back of his Sierra estate!

So he beats your guy by year

What? I'm guessing at a sum total of three albums and some compilations & singles?

Maybe he could squeeze out another EP by then

I was aware of that... that's why I took the freedom of adding the word "hope" and the word "wink" between 2x:

I met him once. He's as great a guy as he is a musician. Toots rules! I second your sentiments, IZ...
