stupid questions

Does exactly what it says on the tin. Some of the nonsense contained herein may be very loosely related to The Sisters of Mercy, but I wouldn't bet your PayPal account on it. In keeping with the internet's general theme nothing written here should be taken as Gospel: over three quarters of it is utter gibberish, and most of the forum's denizens haven't spoken to another human being face-to-face for decades. Don't worry your pretty little heads about it. Above all else, remember this: You don't have to stay forever. I will understand.

Sorry mates but there's one thing I have to know but I don't  :innocent:
You can laugh on me but...
Please tell me what means "CBE"?
I mean, for example:
"Novelist and biographer Peter Ackroyd becomes a CBE after the success of his 800-page London: The Biography."

its an award given from the queen, basically for getting on a bit and having done something notable. allegedly.

we also have OBE's. they are a couple of steps down from being knighted.

i think the B.E. part stands for British Empire :?:
