All you need is a 3mm cable, to go out from his walkman/stereo and into the Line In port on his computer's soundcard (the blue port.. though the pink Microphone one will do as well).
Then, you download Audacity, set the input on the drop-down to Line In or Microphone, hit Record, press play on your tape box, then when you're done, select each track and hit Export Selection To Wav, and save each song to a .wav, which can then be burned onto CD (or save it all as one long .wav and burn it).

I concur with Dark, although I have found using the Mic input can lead to wicked feedback and scare the cr*p out of the cat. I used this method a couple of years ago to convert all of my tapes to CD, works well.Dark wrote:All you need is a 3mm cable, to go out from his walkman/stereo and into the Line In port on his computer's soundcard (the blue port.. though the pink Microphone one will do as well).

The alternative is using one of these to record straight from his walkman. I lofs - iz mayde of steeeeel n'krome n wen u dropz it on a eyepodd teh eyepodd brakes n knot teh eyeriffer.

Dad had a CB in the car when I was a kid...also, about 10 summers ago, I worked as part of a PGA Championship/Ryder Cup golf crew (loooooong story; that's how my right knee got messed up) - we all had high-powered walkie-talkies. Disaster was prophesied, and was most definitely realized.emilystrange wrote:blimey that brings back memoriesSINsister wrote:LOL!

Anyway....
My tape-to-CD set-up:
My Liteon DVD/Hard-drive recorder also records audio to CD-R so I just hook up my tape player to the audio inputs of that with a pair of RCA cables. Rip the resulting CD-R(s) to my computer for chopping into individual songs and any volume boosting that may need doing, then burn to CD.
