Ripping Songs from MySpace

Does exactly what it says on the tin. Some of the nonsense contained herein may be very loosely related to The Sisters of Mercy, but I wouldn't bet your PayPal account on it. In keeping with the internet's general theme nothing written here should be taken as Gospel: over three quarters of it is utter gibberish, and most of the forum's denizens haven't spoken to another human being face-to-face for decades. Don't worry your pretty little heads about it. Above all else, remember this: You don't have to stay forever. I will understand.

Well, then: I promise to not rip ARF tunes from MySpace, or anywhere else, for that matter. How's that? ;D

Incidentally, if the SPC ECO songs discussed earlier in this thread were actually available for purchase anywhere, I'd have gone the legit route, ffs!

At the moment, doesn't look like they are, but when they are for sale, they should appear on Dean's website here : http://www.deangarcia.com/index.html

I've removed my notes and can only say I was trying to help somebody who'd asked.

To anybody I've offended or wronged by doing this I apologise.

I feel dreadful now - I'll not trouble you again

TBH, the quality of the stuff on myspazz is usually atter pants.
Not necessarily in content, but the actual sound quality is rough.
So why anyone would want to actually rip from myspace is beyond me.
I actually paid for the ARF downloads (really) & even asked him if I could share his Forest cover before I did.
I'd do the same with any of you.
;D
Cheers.

My sentiments exactly.

I'm not really bothering with people ripping our songs from the Net. They are MP3s anyway and nowhere near the quality of the real deal.

I see it as extra promotion. Beating piracy is nearly impossible, so better make the best of it as promotional stuff.

Can you believe that on our last.fm account it even says, among others, "most played songs this week: Afterhours and Hurt"?

Only see that you use the same three or four songs everywhere on the Net, and it will lure people into buying the real product.

If and when available :|

That's probably people on here giving them heavy rotation. It doesn't take much to lift a track up a persons Last.FM listings. Nothing bad, therefore, but just your fan-base enjoying what you've obviously sent them!

As I said elsewhere, the reason a lot of people rip things from MySpace (including me) is to be able to play them on decent equipment. I realise that even the downloaded version is only a 192k MP3 but even that will benefit from half-decent speakers rather than the ones most have on their PC. If a site has four or five tracks put on there to promote them it seems crazt to only ever hear them with no bottom end (as, for example, mine would be)

People should rememebr that not everybody is a pirate only wanting to take a bands money - some of us love music enough to care about how we hear it first time AND have a desire to buy it when it becomes available. Take the 25men stuff, for example - that was bought the same evening it was put up, even though I had three of the tracks already.......
