What is Go Figure really?

THE place for your Sisters-related comments, questions and snippets of Sisters information. For those who do not know, The Sisters of Mercy are a rock'n'roll band. And a pop band. And an industrial groove machine. Or so they say. They make records. Lots of records, apparently. But not in your galaxy. They play concerts. Lots of concerts, actually. But you still cannot see them. So what's it all about, Alfie? This is one of the few tightly-moderated forums on Heartland, so please keep on-topic. All off-topic posts will either be moved or deleted. Chairman Bux is the editor and the editor's decision is final. Danke.

Then, download the Underneath The Rock issues (in the Heartland Photo Gallery) and read them.

I did all the above long ago.. i'm just wondering about whether this can be considered Sisters material.

Did :von: actively work together with Bellendir and Schroeder and have a real band for a short time, or is SSV just "P.Bellendir&T.Schroeder- featuring Andrew Eldtrich vocals"?
Did Andy have any influence on the music rather than just the vocals , for instance...
why don't you ask him

It's the one with the lovely bodypainted and iron-masked lady on it, very nice IMO...

Can't find an image for the moment, but it often turns up on eBay as the SSV Picture Disc.

I agree. It works on the same level as some early Orb stuff on that level.

Ne, ne, ne... I beg to differ. I downloaded WAV files back when it was first "mysteriously" leaked online. I remember because I had dial-up (hey, it was 1997) and it took the entire weekend to download...

Personally, I think it's great. It reminds me a bit of some of Throbbing Gristle's lower key moments. And a dash of Eno.

Care to tell us where this lossless copy came from ? :innocent:
The official site wrote:East West have not released the SSV album, but they did send tapes to the press. One copy landed on the internet, so you could pick the album up for free, in MP3 format. Maybe you still can, but of course we wouldn't be allowed to give you the URL if we knew it. We don't think the record's worth downloading, anyway.

It was for sale at a festival round here for 45 euro's.... :|
Currently 25 euro's on E-bay....

Whether or not someone likes it......it does not deserve the name of the Sisters though I must say it looks great from the outside... :)

Have you tested them to see if they are actually lossless?

I've said it before, but this is one recording that could actually benefit from being in a lossy format.
Cheers.

I bought the picture disc some years ago, just to complete my collection, not for the crap music on it.

This is the official site of The Sisters Of Mercy.

We are a rock'n'roll band. And a pop band. And an industrial groove machine.
And intellectual love gods in our spare time.

SSV is none of the above.
Case closed? :innocent:

And my personal opinion on the music: At first hearing I thought it was okay. But some songs grow on you as you hear them, others don't.
To me SSV is a collection of shrinkers. It didn't get played more than two or three times here, and I only keep it for having it.

At the Antwerp record fair today, this little thing could be bought for 25 Euro. That's the common price for it anyway...
I haven't bought it though, I already had one for years

Someone I know has a friend who claims to be friends with Eldritch- he reckons Go Figure sounds ten times better with drums.

I've heard it a few times and tbh I own KLF records that aren't as good...
