I'm trying to get my tape collection sort of even
slightly organised and came across these 2 DAT
tapes.
PC69 is Tape(Master)->DAT
and Tiffanys is Tape(1st Gen)->DAT
both have a fair bit of analog overload on them,
are their any sources that don't knocking about.
My PC69 source is straight from the tape so I
know thats legit for this tape source but I don't
have any real info on the Tiffanys tape.
Anybody ?
thanks
Wayne
checking a few sources : PC69 21/04/85 & Tiffanys 13/04/

Well, i just think the alternate sources are pretty interesting without imaginary songs Or maybe the elusive video has KOHD on it, too...

there are lots of uploaded rarities in the 'sharing' section to choose from!wayne wrote:depends - what rare uncirculated sources would you be willing to upload in return ?taylor wrote:@wayne
can you upload them ?
Perhaps you'd like to offer them up as weeds?

I'm going to pre-emptively jump to wayne's defence here. (Although I'm sure he's fully capable of defending himself.)
I think wayne's made his feelings known on a few occasions about weeding and sharing, particularly on the issue of the seemingly inevitable degradation of quality that accompanies the "life-cycle" of any high-quality recordings whenever they surface.
If wayne doesn't want to release his recordings into general circulation, it's his decision, and I for one think we should respect that.

although this should be relative when you use a good extraction program (i.e. EAC) and quality cdr's (TY,...)markfiend wrote: on the issue of the seemingly inevitable degradation of quality that accompanies the "life-cycle" of any high-quality recordings whenever they surface.
More an issue of compression (mp3)
you're both missing the point:markfiend wrote:I'm going to pre-emptively jump to wayne's defence here. (Although I'm sure he's fully capable of defending himself.)

- look how old the original post is, I'm not goading anybody with what I've got - it was a legitimate question when I first found this place. One person made the effort and helped out back then and he got copies for his trouble.
- look who resurrectee is, known for their community spirit ? Perhaps the gamesmanship was a bit too subtle.
I do share my stuff, there are a few of my tape sources in the weeding section and I've put stuff on dime, but to be honest its a bit of a thankless task. The last few years I've taken to giving recordings directly to people who actually went to the gigs, along with the odd randoms who might be interested, cute goth birds on trains, and people who aren't privy to the world of bootlegs. I get more thanks and a kick out of giving a cd to somebody like that, who had no idea a gig they went to exists than I do watching people, with long lists to maintain, arguing about why they should be given free stuff and at the same time PMing behind the scenes playing the rare trades game.
