To celebrate the event and to create a sense of nostalgia, I have created an accurate depiction of the way my Sisters history developed. Feel free to add your own if you still remember it!
How it all began
In the morning of Monday the eighteenth of September 2006, I was downloading a video file about the heroic acts of an fictuous character in an online game. After it was downloaded, I watched it. The creator of it had included for the soundtrack of his movie the song Temple of Love '92, which started a few minutes into the video. When I first heard it it didn't interest me much, it only struck me how low the singer's voice was and that in contrast with the high female voice. But since that wasn't all that unique, it sounded to me like yet another metal song. (yes! TOL sounded like metal when I first heard it
)But in the following days, me appreciating the video a lot, Temple of Love began to tighten its grasp on me as I began to get intruiged by the song. It somehow interested me. After approximately a week I really liked the song and watched the credits on the end to discover it was by The Sisters of Mercy (which again sounded a bit weird, making me think it was a travesty based act
). I then proceeded to check Youtube for a clip. After watching the TOL video, I was sold. Although the spinning disc thing and the pentagram and the various images from other vids were a bit weird, the rising moon from the temple hit me hard as the best opening shot of any music+image combination I had ever seen. The pigeon thing and clouds, rocks and cliffs also seemed like a good combination with the music. For the following days I was completely caught up by the song; I have an accurate memory about how I was biking to school every morning mumbling the lyrics over and over again- I was amazed. I wrote Temple of Love down in my booklet of Nr.1 songs ever, which up to then only contained various pop artists and an occasional mild goth or mild rock artist. To this day TOL '92 is still my favourite song ever.
In the days to come I tried to find more about the Sisters- first of all I watched Black Planet, Lucretia, Dominion and This Corrosion, later I found Doctor Jeep, More and 1959. I really liked the vids and Dominion and Lucretia became instant classics to me.
I did a little bit of research on the Sisters' background (but not much..)
I then used my basic downloading tool, Limewire, to try and find some Sisters stuff. From then on, I have downloaded over a hundred files, of which I have the chronological order stored in my PC. I was able to make a list.
I downloaded Temple of Love '92 at 18/10/2006/06:49:21. In those days, I still had a lot of pop songs in my playlists and listened to those, occasionally listening to TOL and watching the vids. From then on I sometimes found a Sisters song and downloaded it, resulting in the following selection of dates:

For nearly three months, these were the only Sisters songs I knew. I listened to them mixed with the pop songs I had but gradually they began to take over- I began to realise I had found my favourite band. This period influenced me greatly, as all of these songs remind me of those days when I hear them.
Finally my Sisters liking took over and at a certain point I refused to listen to any other music than the Sisters anymore- at that point, the reason was that the pop stuff and the Sisters just don't mix anymore- the Sisters sounded better when listened to without interference.
This period was marked by my liking of TOL first. I did like the rest but it wasn't as good. As I downloaded a bit I then began to like Marian a lot- first I could not hear the vocals because they were too low but later I really loved the music. And lastly after a while I REALLY began to like Driven Like the Snow, which had just been "the quiet song" on my playlist for a long while- until I turned the volume up and discovered what a gem it really was. Driven Like the Snow became the newest Nr.1 song on my list.
After nearly three months of absence of new material, there was the magical February 24 ! That day, I got amazingly lucky on Limewire, which I decided to try again after a long time of not downloading much. That day, I downloaded no less than TWENTY FIVE Sisters songs.

these songs marked a new period for me, with less commercial-based, musically "full" songs like the popular Alice 93, TOL, Dominion and Lucretia, and more "sober", less rocky songs, more quiet and older. Neither of these became a real hit for me, so at first I used them to listen to while making homework (the memory of Something Fast while learning Chemistry still holds a place in my heart), but it did enrich my Sisters reportoire.
I held out a few weeks with these, meanwhile doscovering the clip of Walk Away and the Wake versions of Alice, Marian and First and Last and Always and Body and Soul. I began to appreciate the Sisters more and read more about them. After a few weeks I succeeded in downloading a few more songs with regular intervals, first including Sister Ray then Suzanne- the first two Live songs I had ever gotten, and Suzanne the first of the- for me unknown as of yet- latest Sisters productions.
Then came the great day, at March 6 2007- I joined Heartland! I had visited Sisterswiki dot com and 1959 for lyrics explanation, which led me here. I was interested and decided to join to learn more about the Sisters.

Flood I and II were songs I was really curious about- not having a clue about hw they sounded. At first I liked Flood I better, but soon Flood II began to take over, then overwhelm me with its quality- and the third Sisters song on my Nr.1 list ever took its place: Flood II!
Then, I did my first post. I liked TOL 92 alot but Sisterswiki told me there was an original! a 83 version! never having heard it, I was unable to find it and asked for help:

So I wonder if it's even available at all? I'd nearly do a KILL to hear the original- The 1992 is, I think the Sister's Best song and that's how I learnt of them- it was included in a video clip about something as a track, and I thought WOW...had to know who made it.
But I heard of some interview with Eldritch in which he says the original is even faster, and ofc does not have Ofra's voice in it. I have also heard it was a huge hit back then (83) and, together with Alice, defined the pre-FALAA era of the Sisters. So it got me wondering, how exactly does it sound? ANd where can I get it?

I bought First and Last and Always(the re-issue) later on. I was very impressed because the coherence between the songs was much better than Floodland's, and there was a feeling like Andy had just been moreinvolved with FALAA. I had a great time listening to it over na dover again with a headphone on vacation.
And then there was Zottegem 07/07/07... The first gig, the first sigh tof the Sisters. Quite an experience- although I should have heard another recent full live gig BEFORE going to Zottegem (but I hadn't discovered the Sharing forums yet
), because the quality and style of the songs was completely different from what I had expected. After hearing London Forum 2003, I knew Zottegem hadn't been anything unusual(except it's quality).I will add more when i remember stuff! Feel free to tell of YOUR sisters history!
