50,000 volts or the Body Electric

Does exactly what it says on the tin. Some of the nonsense contained herein may be very loosely related to The Sisters of Mercy, but I wouldn't bet your PayPal account on it. In keeping with the internet's general theme nothing written here should be taken as Gospel: over three quarters of it is utter gibberish, and most of the forum's denizens haven't spoken to another human being face-to-face for decades. Don't worry your pretty little heads about it. Above all else, remember this: You don't have to stay forever. I will understand.

Guy goes nuts in building filled with public - Police do nothing - public get hurt - Police get slated for doing nothing.

Guy goes nuts in building filled with public - Police get slated for restraining him.

Do the Police know he's unarmed?.
If the Police tell me to lay still or else I'll get Tazered............I lay still.
Being brave is coming home at 2am half drunk, smelling of perfume, climbing into bed, slapping the wife on the arse and saying,"right fatty, you're next!!"

I agree that the vid that Sinnie posted showed outrageous behaviour by the authorities in America, however James' original post related to tasers being TRIALLED by six forces in England and Wales. For anyone to relate the two is a bit like blaming the Royal Marines because the Chinese army invaded Tibet!
Police in the UK remain overwhelmingly unarmed, whereas firearms despite being banned are now used more frequently than before by criminals due to their availability. The fact is that UK law and Criminal Justice system has developed separately from the U.S. so it does not stand to reason that the UK would see the same type of use. The future has not already been written therefore it does not follow that Britain will automatically become the same as anywhere else.
Let's not forget that while the police are there to uphold the law, it is the Government that makes the law, and it was a so-called left wing Government that has brought in mandatory fingerprinting and DNA sampling of suspects prior to charge, and the same Government that has banned smoking in public places. Surely they should be the target of any anger.

The future cannot possibly be pre-ordained. The fact that we have choices shows otherwise. History also shows that each country develops both indepenently and interdependently at the same time. This means that there is a future where we can all integrate perfectly having learned the nistakes of the past. (Mind you in an alternate Philip K Dick universe.......)

Another one...

http://edition.cnn.com/2007/US/09/21/oh ... index.html

I find particularly disturbing the cop's "You're going to walk to that car or you're going to be Tasered again." They're just using it as a super-violent cattle-prod.

I have absolutely no sympathy for cops using these stun-guns for anything but their own defence or that of others. Maybe they should be made to feel their own medicine until the batteries run out.
