Moody discovery

THE place for your Sisters-related comments, questions and snippets of Sisters information. For those who do not know, The Sisters of Mercy are a rock'n'roll band. And a pop band. And an industrial groove machine. Or so they say. They make records. Lots of records, apparently. But not in your galaxy. They play concerts. Lots of concerts, actually. But you still cannot see them. So what's it all about, Alfie? This is one of the few tightly-moderated forums on Heartland, so please keep on-topic. All off-topic posts will either be moved or deleted. Chairman Bux is the editor and the editor's decision is final. Danke.

Someone helped me track down a share on a few Sisters songs...

Most of them I had already but I found two of them very interesting.

One was a 9:22 version of Lucretia My Reflection that hasn't been edited but actually has authentical additional length from 8:44. I could hear it from guitar sounds that didn't match those used previously in the song. It sounds great, Lucretia My Reflection can't be long enough IMO...

And the other discovery for me was a track called "Ozymandias", which is 7:02 long so I thought it was Dominion, but after 5:24 of Dominion- a completely new Dominion for me, with a repeated first part and better choir and the BANGs like in the video, and better drums- it changed into Ozymandias mid-verse at 5:24 continueing with a bit heavily edited Ozymandias into another part of Ozymandias and then Sandstorm is added, then Ozymandias ends and Sandstorm finishes the song.
I found the Dominion-part of this to be better than the Dominion part of the Floodland version- it is very good.

Does someone know where these originate from?

EDIT: After half an hour of brainstorming and Google-using, I finally realised that the sentence that had come into my mind the moment the Dominion part changed into Ozymandias, something I remembered from long ago while searching for info about the Sisters, wasn't ...changing into Ozymandias half-verse.. but ...changing into Ozymandias mid-verse... and then finally found what I was looking for in Google, although I still had been wrong with the sentence:

" Under the Knife....
Dominion/Ozymandias is a remix of Dominion...At 05:25, the song suddenly reverses in mid-word to Ozymandias...
"

So I think I got what I was looking for ... Mods, feel free to delete if desired!
It's good to be back

Where they're from...

Lucretia is the 12" single mix, if memory serves.

Ozymandias was on the CD of Dominion (instead of Emma, which was only available on the vinyl).
If I told them once, I told them a hundred times to put 'Spinal Tap' first and 'Puppet Show' last.

And on the limited edition cassette (MR43C).
I don't necessarily agree with everything I think.

I've just checked my copy of that and no Ozymandias. The track listing is the same as the regular 12".

Check the label on the vinyl. I don't have my copy to reference, but if I remember correctly, the sleeve is the normal MR43T, but the label has Untitled (long version) or Untitled extended (or something like that.).
This is Untitled with Ozymandias as the 2nd part.

Thanks for that CellThree, you're quite right, it's Untitled (Long Version). BTW, that's the first time the record has ever left the sleeve.

I've got a tape somewhere with Dominion 'demos and remixes' which is by and large just the standard versions graphic-equalised, but it does contain a couple of these mixed Dominion/Untitled/Sandstorm/Ozymandias combos, and from memory they really are rather good. No idea which shyster knocked them up, but i daresay they ain't official.

12"

A: dominion(5.04)/untitled(3.32)
B: sandstorm(1.44)/emma(6.14)

12" box

A: dominion(5.04)/untitled(long version)(7.28 )
b: sandstorm(0.30)/emma(6.14)

untitled long version is a segue of untitled/ozymandias
sandstorm is shorter although isn't credited as such on the sleeve.

I'd say we've definitely cleared that one up

That shortened version of Sandstorm; it'd be the same one as appeared as the intro for the video of Dominion wouldn't it?

After a quick dash to the video player and digging out Shot...yep, same length with a 4sec-ish gap to the intro proper.

I was hoping Ozymandias was a cover of the storming b-side to Freddy laker(Concord and Eurobus) by Jean Jaques Burnel(The Stranglers bass player) which happens to have one of the finest bass lines ever recorded.
But it isn't so carry on.....
But the JJ Burnel track does happen to have something to do with Shelleys poem of the same name.

I made another discovery!

I believe i finally found the "right" version of NTTC- a song I have never liked, but this version is much better than any other version I had heard of it. It has added drums compared to all the other versions I heard. Now I'm unsure whether this is the single version or Japanese version, because even the FALAA version sounded like all the other versions I had heard.

Can someone tell me what the Dominion single version of Dominion sounds like? I believe it has the BANG sound after "Dominion" as well so I should try to get my hands on it... the nder the Knife version is very good but it fades into Ozymandias which spoils the quality of the ending a bit...

Dominion single version has the BANG!, and it fades out during the last "and I say mine"s, before Mother Russia comes in. The video version, I seem to remember, is a shorter mix with some edits in the midsection.

The "right" NTTC has an obvious repeated drum pattern at the end, finishing up with a colossal bloody NOISE, that isn't present on the "Japanese" version. This is the same as the single version (although there is also a 7" mix which has the intro and outro edited out, so that it's quite a bit shorter).
