T'Mish - The End Is Nigh

Does exactly what it says on the tin. Some of the nonsense contained herein may be very loosely related to The Sisters of Mercy, but I wouldn't bet your PayPal account on it. In keeping with the internet's general theme nothing written here should be taken as Gospel: over three quarters of it is utter gibberish, and most of the forum's denizens haven't spoken to another human being face-to-face for decades. Don't worry your pretty little heads about it. Above all else, remember this: You don't have to stay forever. I will understand.

:D Interesting!
As I've never seen The MISSI0N before, it's about time to try and catch 'm live on a stage somewhere. The London gigs look most promising, but that'll be out of my reach I'm afraid... Utrecht or Koln on the other hand are slightly closer to home. Hmm, anyone else going? Christophe? Liesbeth? Ozpat ?
some folks are talking about Utrecht.... (I hear its a lovely city)

maybe we should do some research on the matter.

Before you start shooting, this is just MY opinion:

I think it's strange that you people talk down on THE MISH. Their music is still better than 99.9 percent of nowadays music.

Many Sisters fans followed them as they started the band after the split-up of TSOM in 1985. Albums like The First Chapter and Children are really excellent, but you people should overcome your prefixed ideas and listen to those albums. It's too easy to dismiss them as being idiots. At least they're idiots that made great music.

I can imagine that some of you got fan of TSOM in the late nineties or so. This means you missed some of the romance of eighties goth/wave music. To me THE MISH is part of that romance, together with bands like Fields Of The Nephilim, The Cult, Siouxsie AND THE SISTERS !!!

Now you can start shooting

I dislike the Mish because they make crap music, not because it is an ongoing eighties fashion statement

Goff over-the-topness in my opinion, led by Boy Geroge with a hat. But then again I listened to Exodus and Kreator in the eighties.

Maybe that's why I think they're sissies

Everyone to his/her own, of course, Paul ;)

OTOH, I don't have a particular pleasure in them quitting the business. I don't really care actually. It's just bad for all the fans on this board I know are here aplenty.

@ Izzy...I don't think Wayne's worn a hat since 1990.

Anyway were either doing the Paris - Malaga leg or the Hamburg - Utrecht leg with an outside chance of Milan to Florence thrown in...as well as all 4 London shows....Can't wait.

True, great city- some lovely cafes if you like pancakes

Nah, I'm sad that the Mish have quit- I think paul makes some good points. I thought the music wasn't great and can't forgive Wayne for making a show of himself on James Whale but I hold no grudge strong enough that I can't feel bad about this news

I also think the Mish get a unfairly bad rap from time to time on here. I'm no great fan of them, but they certainly have their moments, and don't necessarily deserve blanket dismissal.

Not too convinced by the "never say never" aspect of Wayne's statement though. Gives me the impression that he's reluctant to draw a line under the band in case whatever he turns to next doesn't work out.

I know he's on the record saying that he'd never work with Craig Adam's professionally again, but with Simon Hinkler apparently down to play 4-5 songs a night at Shepherds Bush, I wonder if it'll be long before a (fairly) big money offer comes along from someone to put as much of the original line up back together for some gigs or something. I also recall reading an interview with Wayne where he said that Craig refused to work with Mick Brown when they resurrected the band in the late 90s, but there doesn't seem to be any lasting problems between anyone else.

Watching this thread grow over the last couple of days is leaving me increasingly tempted by the first and last nights at Shepherds Bush. Regardless of whether I go or not though, I hope they are a success for all involved. A great send off (if thats what it proves to be).
