Record Collector feature & Marx interview

THE place for your Sisters-related comments, questions and snippets of Sisters information. For those who do not know, The Sisters of Mercy are a rock'n'roll band. And a pop band. And an industrial groove machine. Or so they say. They make records. Lots of records, apparently. But not in your galaxy. They play concerts. Lots of concerts, actually. But you still cannot see them. So what's it all about, Alfie? This is one of the few tightly-moderated forums on Heartland, so please keep on-topic. All off-topic posts will either be moved or deleted. Chairman Bux is the editor and the editor's decision is final. Danke.

Was anyone else amused to learn that the Neph sell flour bags at 50 quid a pop? I know I was.
If I told them once, I told them a hundred times to put 'Spinal Tap' first and 'Puppet Show' last.

I laughed at the idea of Nosferatu's Diva red 12" being worth £60 - why is it that a few years back I couldn't offload their early back catalogue for the more than a few quid per item?!

where does RC get its values from?! dreamland?
Is this the place I used to know as Fatherland?

Looks to me as if they got most of it from Esprit. But maybe the people who were involved in the article can shed more light on this...

It seems to me that a lot of the prices may come from Andy at Resurrection Records in Camden. He must have boxes of this stuff!!
Plus I always remember seeing a copy of the Altered States LP for £60 on his wall about 5 years ago! Most of the prices listed are ridiculous, I think it a case of eBay inflating the prices.
The sadder thing is that i've got most of the records (not the test pressing, acetates just the normal pressings). Hell if someone wants to give me a £100 for my Xmal Deutschland single then they can have it!

I laughed at most of the valuations, I had about 20 copies of Girlsoul 7" and couldn't shift them at all ending up giving them away and I find it highly amusing that Ballam and the Angel are considered in any sense collectable. Apart from the SISTERS piece the whole article can be filed as a space filler.

Nah, 'preciate the offer but I already have a (cough) digital (cough) copy of it, which I somehow (cough) obtained (cough). :innocent:

I suppose it's kinda worth that price if you're a rabid collector, you really want the item, and that's the only price you can get it at, but for those of us who just want to hear the songs it's borderline moonshine.

The day a dealer will give you even close to the amount of money for a record you're selling that they would gladly take of you for one they're selling...

(Still bitter over those Wedding Present seven inchers years ago).

I enjoyed the read and was delighted to find out that all my m*****n 12" singles were worthless and in fact I should have been looking after the gatefold Stay With Me single instead, that I never purchased...

It's also nice to know that the only time I invested in a cassette, I should have been buying the gatefold LP version. Balaam and the Angel's The Greatest Story Ever Told.

I wonder whether Tower Of Strength (Bombay Mix) on 12" is worth anything.

Tower of Strength (Bombay Mix) in the embossed sleeve isn't worth that much. Probably about £8.
