My favourite band of all time (just in front of Nu Ordagh).
They produce albums that are by turns scary, melodic, heavy, articulate and innovative.
Live, there is no one who can match them. Jaz Coleman is a shamanistic frontman while Geordie produces noise that can plummet internal organs.
Anyone agree with me?

Ah, always good to see.
Pity they're in a shambles at the minute: Jaz singing with anyone who'll pay enough while Geordie's been getting drunk and telling people 'You're me besht paaal in the 'ole f**king world you are...'
Maybe the sad death of Raven (RIP) will put things in perspective and get the two of them to work with Youth and Big Paul Ferguson again.

One of the greatest live bands ever. I still get goosebumps just thinking about the Shepherds Bush birthday bash.
Me and the 'Joke have had a thing going now for the past 26 years.

Yes, the DVD of that show is astonishing.

Although I did read somewhere that Von called them a bunch of fascists, so maybe that what annoyed him."I hate Eldritch too. My support bands could warm up a stage better than he could. He's a poser. In fact, he irritates me. I hope the c***'s reading this."

Aye and the Chameleons aren't great fans of them either....they even wrote a song about themNOF wrote:Yes, the DVD of that show is astonishing.

Still, I don't give a monkey's chuff. I loike's 'em and that's good enough for me, I was never going to be asking Mr E to accompany me to the gigs next year.

you may be interested to ken that there's a KJ concert doing the rounds on Rockworld.TV at the moment, I caught it earlier in the week (only saw three tracks - Requiem, Butcher, The Wait - Raven line up) and it's scheduled for another showing tomorrow night

Yes, the Joke are/were bloody fantastic. One of my all time favourites too.
Has to be Brighter for me - there's just something about the whole rhythmic groove of that album that clicks. Aside from that, the first 2 and Fire Dances are also right up there.

If I told them once, I told them a hundred times to put 'Spinal Tap' first and 'Puppet Show' last.

on topic: I know far to little about this band.
Another Shade of You.
Well into the Joke, every since Love Like Blood. These days they tend to implode if they make more than 1 album without a few years break.
Hopefully they'll make another with Youth. Would be great to see Y touring again aswell. When its only J and G with sessioners it isn't the same.
Fave albums are Brighter..., Pandemonium and Whats This For! Worst albums are Outside The Gate and Democracy for me.
Seen them live 3 times i think, seems like more. Astoria, Bristol and Shepherds Bush in last few years. Like everyone, I wish Big Paul would return.
RIP Raven

I saw Killing Joke in 1980 at the Royal Court in Liverpool - was hanging out by the mixing desk talking to Youth who then signed a few mini tour posters for me, he manged to misspell his name on some of them ! From that moment onwards the guy became a hero!
Metallica's version of the Wait is further proof of just how much Killing Joke inspired this generation!!
Turn to Red ? Nah, I turned to Blue (Come on Everton !!)
