How very dare you ! The mere suggestion that Rosetta Stone were 'plagiarists' in any form is beyond insulting and just ludicrous to the extreme.
The fact we used concert posters declaring 'recreate and emulate' using the S.O. M type face to lure people to concerts in the early days is just, erm..coincidental ... oh ok, I admit it ,we did lean on some people now and then, but just ever so slightly
At that time, We were what Aerosmith were to the Rolling Stones, Oasis to the Beatles - and the list goes on. Our influences were there for everyone to see, it was a way of promoting the bands identity and if you've ever been associated with a band or trying to promote or manage one, rather than having a blank poster with a date and venue on, if you can give people an idea of what the band's genre is then it helps you a thousand fold. You want to attract a certain audience it doesn't hurt to give the people what they want.
Yes, the cycle goes full circle sometimes. The Sisters leaned on the Stooges, Lynyrd Skynyrd and their influences, Rosetta leaned on theirs ( Sisters, Cure etc.) and Now Legion are leaning on theirs (Rosetta) - in a way I find it flattering to know that this band meant some thing to some people. Yes we had our haters , every band does and we under stood why. But to see 'the next generation' sighting Rosetta Stone as an influence is an honour. I took the flak on a daily basis for managing them and it gave me the 'sense of purpose' to push them to the people even harder - that's why we toured so much.
So yes, we did plagiarise slighty - but it was for the Greater Good
Good luck Maisey, keep at it and don't the let the bastards grind you down
And I give you....LEGION! My band unveiled
I was never a big Rosetta-liker, but to see a new band influenced by them is a definite vindication of their work, so kudos.
@Maisey - me likes!

If I told them once, I told them a hundred times to put 'Spinal Tap' first and 'Puppet Show' last.

I'm really glad you like our stuff. I'm doing my utmost to get shows! Its not easy tp break into the live circuit in any town. We're going back to the drawing board and writing a few new tracks next bandey, so we'll have a new set of demos to show for ourselves soon.
I'll be handing out this demo at the March Violets gig by the way. I'll bring hundreds and just give 'em to everyone.

Pfft! If the great and the good (and not so good) of HL can embark on intercontinental shenanigans all in the name of seeing a diminutive wizened old man obscured behind billowing smoke, I think one can mobilize oneself to go a few Tube stops to see the Mais-meister in ak-shun!robertzombie wrote:Is it easy to get to from North/West London?

Details of the venue here:

I'll be trying to get shows in London asap, which will be easier for many more folks anyway

Nice one Maisey. Love the bassline to Rosanna. There should be a friend request from The Hated Reign in your inbox.
I don't necessarily agree with everything I think.
