The fact we used concert posters declaring 'recreate and emulate' using the S.O. M type face to lure people to concerts in the early days is just, erm..coincidental ... oh ok, I admit it ,we did lean on some people now and then, but just ever so slightly
At that time, We were what Aerosmith were to the Rolling Stones, Oasis to the Beatles - and the list goes on. Our influences were there for everyone to see, it was a way of promoting the bands identity and if you've ever been associated with a band or trying to promote or manage one, rather than having a blank poster with a date and venue on, if you can give people an idea of what the band's genre is then it helps you a thousand fold. You want to attract a certain audience it doesn't hurt to give the people what they want.
Yes, the cycle goes full circle sometimes. The Sisters leaned on the Stooges, Lynyrd Skynyrd and their influences, Rosetta leaned on theirs ( Sisters, Cure etc.) and Now Legion are leaning on theirs (Rosetta) - in a way I find it flattering to know that this band meant some thing to some people. Yes we had our haters , every band does and we under stood why. But to see 'the next generation' sighting Rosetta Stone as an influence is an honour. I took the flak on a daily basis for managing them and it gave me the 'sense of purpose' to push them to the people even harder - that's why we toured so much.
So yes, we did plagiarise slighty - but it was for the Greater Good
