Tributes

THE place for your Sisters-related comments, questions and snippets of Sisters information. For those who do not know, The Sisters of Mercy are a rock'n'roll band. And a pop band. And an industrial groove machine. Or so they say. They make records. Lots of records, apparently. But not in your galaxy. They play concerts. Lots of concerts, actually. But you still cannot see them. So what's it all about, Alfie? This is one of the few tightly-moderated forums on Heartland, so please keep on-topic. All off-topic posts will either be moved or deleted. Chairman Bux is the editor and the editor's decision is final. Danke.

Hi, I know that these sisters tributes are excisting (thanks to Paul's website) but don't know if the list is complete...

A Mercyful Tribute To The Sisters
Monochrome (A Tribute To The Sisters of Mercy)
The Violent Hour
First And Last And Forever

Maybe this was an earlier topic but couldn't found anything...

I'm sure there's one called "Thank You! (A Tribute, etc...)" as well.

I have these:

- A Mercyful Tribute To The Sisters (Tribute Records, Sweden)

- Monochrome, A Tribute To The Sisters of Mercy (SPV, Germany)

- The Violent Hour, A Tribute To The Sisters of Mercy (Equinoxe Records, Germany)

- First And Last And Forever (Locomotive Music, Spain)

- Thank You! A Tribute To The Sisters of Mercy (Angelwings, Germany)

Some coverversions are nice, other versions are absolutely horrible...

Yeah, I bought First And Last And Forever some years ago, and I have to say its content persuaded me to never buy another tribute album.

I'm not saying it was all bad, but there is so much great music out there and not enough time to give it all as much listening time as it deserves, let alone spending time listening to inferior versions of classic songs.

Of course my previous comment doesn't include the fine job heartlanders are doing of producing studio versions of unreleased Sisters songs :innocent: totally different  :notworthy:

I thought Automatic Head Detonator's version of Black Planet was pretty great. It's a shame they vanished, I'd have liked to hear more.

Seconded :notworthy: It was totally different from the original, which I always like in a cover version!

It's a kick ass version of Black Planet and one of the very few 'worthy' covers of a Sisters track 8) :notworthy:

warren suicide's stomp-a-thon reworking of Black Planet and foetus's 'interpretation' of FALAA are the best by far ;)
