It's -6 C here and sunny, amazingly.
Oh, and Spige, we've got well over a foot of the real stuff; I can send some over, if you like!

I'll have some, Sinny. We haven't had a good snow for nearly two years here... the first time I saw it this year just had to be on my way down to Leeds for The March Violets, going over the Pennines in England.... in a completely unheated train carriageSINsister wrote:It's -6 C here and sunny, amazingly.

We had a sleet storm right after the snowstorm, so the resultant icy coating's turned the snow into this ridiculously sparkling stuff that looks right off of a Hollywood sound stage. Unless it warms up around here, I think it's going to be around for awhile...

You can have some from here too if you like.
Pretty much snowed all weekend here & took the local authorities a day to get off their great big backsides & make an effort at clearing it off the roads.
By the time they did, it was frozen, so it's still on the roads in patches, which makes for fairly exciting drives (especially if you need to go through the countryside).
That coupled with the possibility a large deer might decide to put in an appearance in the middle of a nice dark road is a joy to look forward to.
Still, at least the place looks festive huh?

@spigel.
A foot of snow or pork parts?
Actually, the word "parts" seems a little lacking in detail to be enticing huh?

Yeah, I've heard of/seen those - but I didn't know that folks ate 'em.
Ummm...yeah. So, lemme guess: you've got well over a foot of those piled up, too?

It's currently -14C here in Chicago; it's -23C with the wind chill factored in. Ummm, yeah. WHY did I not stay in Los Angeles all those years ago?! OMFG. *Shivers uncontrollably*

Hasn't been that cold here for a while.
I remember my first winter here & I kept the beer on the balcony.
It all froze solid (as you'd expect at -18 c)
Won't be doing that again.
Today it's a balmy -5 & everything is white

Right now, it's a balmy -8C ("feels like: -15C") and everything's white here, as well, as it snowed all New Year's Eve...Pista wrote: Hasn't been that cold here for a while.
