"The Dark Reign of Gothic Rock" book

Does exactly what it says on the tin. Some of the nonsense contained herein may be very loosely related to The Sisters of Mercy, but I wouldn't bet your PayPal account on it. In keeping with the internet's general theme nothing written here should be taken as Gospel: over three quarters of it is utter gibberish, and most of the forum's denizens haven't spoken to another human being face-to-face for decades. Don't worry your pretty little heads about it. Above all else, remember this: You don't have to stay forever. I will understand.

Isn't the second one the UK version and the first one for the US? Note sure. Ok book, once you get past the style of writing. Skip the introduction.

T'was that book (the second one incidentally) that re-kindled my interest in the Sisters... got it for Christmas about 5 years ago after having abandoned them in the wilderness for a good few years. I went through a phase of finding them "too goth" :innocent:

Didn't stop me listening to Bauhaus 'till it was coming out my ears though!

Dude, this isn't fair - I'm currently approximately 900 miles from said tome, and thus can't go relive my girlhood at the moment. Not fair of you to tease, sir! :P

It's not in my possession at the moment; you can check out more info about the cd version of it (!) at Mick Mercer's website. Wish I could be of more help... :|

I've been looking for that book for ages.

I can't speak for the book, having never seen it...but that cd set was my first exposure to some fantastic musical heavy-hitters, including Theatre of Hate and James Ray and The Performance... \m/ :von:

The one thing I remember about that book was that Prick Mercer solicited submissions from members of the 'goth public' -- Anita (see 'newsworthy' thread) was furious when she saw the entry 'Michelle Corns and Anita from Leeds'... :innocent:
