Don't think anyone else has raised this yet, so...
Monday 28th January:
Tonight Gideon will be playing sessions by The Sisters of Mercy, Bonnie Prince Billy and El Perro Del Mar with concert tracks from PJ Harvey, Tom Robinson and Gene.
Okay, so its highly unlikely to be previously underheard tracks, but will still be nice to hear em on the radio! Gideon mentioned a few weeks back he'd play some, probably the Jensen session I think.
BBC Radio 6 Gideon Coe tonight
Is this digital radio? Cause IIRC we only have the two Peel sessions in digital format, no?deadagain wrote:Gideon mentioned a few weeks back he'd play some, probably the Jensen session I think.
I like these calm little moments before the storm. It reminds me of Beethoven. Can you hear it? It's like when you put your head to the grass and you can hear the growin' and you can hear the insects.
BBC 6: yes this is digital radio. I've recorded it - only listened to the start so far - he played Heartland but talked over the outro; said he was only going to play another Sisters track, not sure which one yet.kazamel wrote:Is this digital radio? I'm always staggered by the clarity of the digital broadcasts as compared with the old Psyche Session bootleg.
Is this the place I used to know as Fatherland?
they do if you listen to them via the next after the event, but through live digital radio it sounds excellent.Dark wrote:I thought digital broadcasts used fairly low bitrates.
They'll probably sound clearer, but..
BTW second track they played was Jolene.
As far as I know they have never played Walk Away from the Peel '84 session, plus Burn and Valentine from Jenson '83 on digital. Is this true? If not, perhaps someone would like to weed or upload all the sessions in digital quality? (until of course the band, the beeb and strange fruit get it together and release the official Sisters BBC Radio Sessions cd! I'd happily pay £15 for an official album with all the sessions clean and complete).
