Scientology?, what's it all about then?

Does exactly what it says on the tin. Some of the nonsense contained herein may be very loosely related to The Sisters of Mercy, but I wouldn't bet your PayPal account on it. In keeping with the internet's general theme nothing written here should be taken as Gospel: over three quarters of it is utter gibberish, and most of the forum's denizens haven't spoken to another human being face-to-face for decades. Don't worry your pretty little heads about it. Above all else, remember this: You don't have to stay forever. I will understand.

I don't know anything about it, I can't really be arsed dredging about the interweb to read bullshit about, so, tell me what you know/think about it.

Boston Legal did a great episode about Scientology.

I heartily recommend watching this:

;D Thankee Si!

Hey, Scientos, you may want to hire a few eastern germans. Judging by the numbers of former Stasi members the statistical chance for you to get one emploxed should be great if you get, let's say, 10 of them employed.
They will give you precious advice on spying people less clumsily.

One has to see that to believe it.. What freaks..

The Church of Scientology's actively trying to suppress this video; clicky to see Tom Cruise take nearly 10 minutes to say what amounts to absolutely nothing in an Oscar-worthy role depicting a guffawing, giggling, raving madman.
Oh, wait. ;)

I remember reading that when Katie Holmes (Mrs Tom Cruise) was pregnant, leading Scientology people were saying that she had to give birth silently as noise such as screaming and other associated labour noises can stress the baby out. This is obviously a religion invented by a man, how about I bite yer bollocks off and tell you to remain silent?

Eek! ... Perhaps she gave birth under (warm) water? Surely the 'little darling' would have been stressed seeing Tom Cruise (assuming he was there?!) ???

Sure, start a New (Matriarchal) Religion! ... Britney or Paris as Our Leader? (just kidding, honest! - could be good for a laugh though?!) Like just about everyone else (eh?!) I'm pretty sick of the current offerings ... Or do we go back to the 'Old One' (cue dry ice, drum machine etc) ...?!?

Yeah, Scientology is Tosh ...

I heard there are rumours Tom Cruise's Hubbard's son  Wonder whether that's an internal thing to get him to be the next big man or an external to impress people or so. He's a tosser as far as I'm concerned anyway, no matter what he is

Apparently Hubbard starting his own religion had something to do with this, though I don't quite remember what.

Either way, I find Raellites far more entertaining  (though that might be because I see all sorts of prog rock themes in their occupations )

Did anybody see the BBC documentary last year when the presenter totally lost it? truly scary stuff - he was followed everywhere and intimidated in a big way.

A bunch of mind fcuking freaks basically was the upshot of the programme. Boycot all their films I say. It's not as if you'd be missing much.....

True, that. The Church of Scientology was started as a parody of the Church of the SubGeniusâ„¢. Or something.

The 'Auditing' process, whereby you confess all your past indiscretions etc. (without even the protection of the sanctity of Catholic confessional) surely can't provide the Scientologists with blackmail material to stop people from leaving, can it?

Oh and I believe that the Scientologists claim to be able to 'cure' homosexuality. On an entirely unconnected matter, two of the highest-profile members of the Church of Scientology are Tom Cruise and John Travolta.

The Scientologists are also notoriously litigious.

Any of this prompted by my sig? ;D

Funny this topic surfaces today, as this is the day on which, I think, I found the name of the really real existant Big Cheese of all spirits. Its name must be Aaargh!, as most of the people who maintain the ability of speech up to that moment say that as they die, in one way or the other. Independant of their native language.
I guess I'll choose to believe it's an inbred old knowledge. So I decided to found the

Finally I'll be able to afford that Jaguar and the private plane. :D
