More dodgy rarities

Okay, here's two more I've come across. Can anyone confirm if these are genuine or not?

I've read that early pressings of Walk Away had the image in red rather than silver. Is this true? (I think I got this from the same source as the Dr Jeep tin, so I'm prepared for it turning out to be a fake.)

The same source also said that first pressings of both the Walk Away and Body And Soul 12"s came in plain black envelopes. Anyone ever seen these?

Finally, I once saw a CD of Under The Gun on eBay. It was billed as a very rare promo and had the image in green instead of yellow. Didn't win it. Should I be relieved or upset?

I'm almost sure you're correct about Walk Away, and I have a plain black NTTC, so it's certainly possible. Dunno about the others.
If I told them once, I told them a hundred times to put 'Spinal Tap' first and 'Puppet Show' last.

I have them too. I was really pissed when I bought them for the fact that they didn't come in an original sleeve. Does perhaps anyone know why there were no sleeves?

Lachert, those are just generic sleeves for later pressings. Fairly common for all bands, although 7" ones seem more common than 12".

The impression I got was that the two records came in their artwork sleeves and then in completely black envelopes ie with flap tops and no artwork or text of any sort.

And now that you mention it, it may have been No Time To Cry rather than Walk Away. I'm not 100% sure. But it was certainly one of them and the other was definitely Body And Soul.

Edit: I've just found the site where I got the info from. http://faq.tsom.org/discography_official.txt

It was the B&S 7", not 12" (sorry). It says "Some blue copies in envelope sleeves."

For Walk Away 12" it says "Original cover is red on black later pressings are silver on black. Inner sleeve is black with MR logo in rectangular box."

And NTTC says "Original pressing in matte black envelope sleeve." It's not entirely clear if it's referring to the 7" or 12".

No mention of the UTG promo.

walk away 12" was definitely silver on black when first released (in uk at least). the only difference with later copies was that the first pressings came with a sticker about the free train flexi. i've never seen a red on black walk away.

all 7" and 12" singles 84-85 were unavailable in picture sleeves after the initial stock had run out, and came in the generic black ones shown above. i can only assume this was down to the change from independence to major-label funding and practices.

Maybe. It is pretty odd anyway. Saw them black sleeve ones on a record fair in Genk last autumn. Looks awful IMO. :|

I have black sleeve copies for the 12" versions of Body & Soul, No Time To Cry and Walk Away. Later I bought those records again, just for the sleeves.

i've got uk 12" picture cover walk away with flexi inside in some kind of tin paper envelope (without sticker about flexi) and one in hard paper envelope without flexi but alsow in picture cover. both are silver on black.

i 'think'

a) envelope means, in this instance, without a spine rather than enclosed within. early releases are 'thin' and have a cut out. later are 'fat' and have information on the 'spine' of the sleeve + usually a barcode on the rear of the sleeve

b) you maybe refering to the bootleg 'enter the sisters' which i have in red, blue and silver [it has the black october logo] :?: other than that, i'm lost for stupid :? as there are no red on black walkaway

That would sound convincing if the discography I cited used that description for other records and not just those two.

But whoever compiled it could possibly be confusing WA with ETS, although there's no mention of blue and silver. (Unless you mean three alternative sleeve colours.)

One of them having two stickers saying "Out next week" & "Sample copy for instore play".

Can't remember why they were withdrawn, was it a cost issue?

On the subject of sleeves I have This Corrosion 12" in both a envelope style and with a spine - not sure which came first, I got them on the same day on release!
