Chemically aiding sleep

Does exactly what it says on the tin. Some of the nonsense contained herein may be very loosely related to The Sisters of Mercy, but I wouldn't bet your PayPal account on it. In keeping with the internet's general theme nothing written here should be taken as Gospel: over three quarters of it is utter gibberish, and most of the forum's denizens haven't spoken to another human being face-to-face for decades. Don't worry your pretty little heads about it. Above all else, remember this: You don't have to stay forever. I will understand.

If I told them once, I told them a hundred times to put 'Spinal Tap' first and 'Puppet Show' last.

Stress is the bad doer. Too much work stress is leading to your sleeplessness so to read and with it boomeranging back when you need to sleep is stressing you out so this is a cycle that needs to be broken.
The natural way the body works is eventually you will konk in or WILL sleep just from sheer exhaustion. So make to the core of the problem the stress...that bad factor. Try to get rid of it Grips. Do or think of something that makes you as a person relax. Take at least half an hour to wind down as often as a busy schedule permits, but get yourself relaxed and mind clear. Try yoga or just a brisk walk if you are into that kind of thing or listen to music with feet up on the couch type of thing.
That escape is the core of getting this problem resolved.

Try and avoid at all costs until you feel you might die of fatigue.
Try milk with honey, green tea, but if your mind is turning round and round it's best to concentrate on one thing at a time, one day at a time.

Right, the core of your stress. Plan your acts of ridding the idiots but first get your stress under control, to be able to think with a clear mind.

This week is also a hectic week to start anything. I really hope you've had a good few hours of sleep by now. Don't freak yourself out over it, it will only lead to more stress and mood swings etc. Hang in there Grips and if all else fails get motherlessly drunk and just pass out. You'll sleep for yonks, won't feel any pain and will wake up grumpy.

Luck to you.

Oh by the way Valerian Tea is relaxing and sleep inducing, relieves spasms, calms the digestion, and lowers blood pressure. It is useful for severe insomnia and insomnia accompanied by pain, cramps, intestinal pain, wind, menstrual pain, tension, anxiety, and over-excitability.But it comes with some side effects so don´t over do it.

Sound advice indeed! :notworthy: Anything chemical free is best of course. Alcohol is the very worst - contrary to what most of us think, it is a stimulant as well as a depressant and you will wake up sooner than you intended with that familiar de-hydrated toxic headache that we all know and hate - That's if you haven't completed a 'Grand Slam' (this is the 'ultimate' accolade/humiliation depending on your point of view) - Don't know what a Grand Slam is? - just ask a Squaddie!

Sorry Folks, but the first part of MB's advice is the only way ... You know it makes sense! :innocent:
They (The Establishment) use sex as an addiction for control, just as they use alcohol and drugs ...
- A programme of systematic frustration in order to sell this crock of s**t as immortality, a garden of delights and love. ...

Why thank you. And I'll agree that alcohol is the very worst unless you can keep it to one night only. That's an addiction that is the worse kind as it destroys so much and that around it.

Try mind relaxants like puzzles if you enjoy that or just a good time-out for yourself to even if it's to watch a sunset or sunrise, but thoughts are with you Grips.

 Aye MB ... Plenty of stories I won't repeat here ...
I'm surprised that no-one came back on the 'Grand Slam' - either y'all are above that sort of thing or blissfully ignorant ... Still funny though (albeit briefly) ...
