Ok, tell me. When people are shocked or whatever, they scream out "Jesus H. Christ" Now, I'm not a church person. So I ask. What does the "H" stand for? I have been wondering about this a long time ![Rolling Eyes ](./images/smilies/icon_rolleyes.gif)

AFAIK - The "H" stands for "HOLY" - or it stands for that in the UK!
I also seem to remember that to swear using "Jesus H Christ" is to use 3 swear words - hence profaning and going against the Holy Trinity - Father, Son and Holy Ghost.
This also reminds why its is considered bad luck to walk under a leaning ladder - as the ladder is making the sign of a trinangle and be to found walking through it you are showing a great disrespect to the "Holy Trinity"
(I could of course be talking out of my A*** - But in this case I doubt it!)
Hope this information helps![Smile :-)](./images/smilies/icon_smile.gif)

I don't use that one. I use Jesus effing Christ, which will probably get me triple the sins for using it.

f***ing hell seems to be what comes from me usually.
the standard ones get the job done i think.
having said that, ive come across my fair share of pretentious tossers which tends to require something with far more syllables and a higher word score in scrabble to produce the desired effect.
but always out of ear shot of the little ones......

Well, in Dutch it is something like:

Or 'damn'. But I like the former better![Smile :-)](./images/smilies/icon_smile.gif)

I much prefer - after many years of feeling very uncomfortable about using the word, that the "C" word works best to shut people up!
Beside there nothing like a good "F***" every now and again! - I mean about swearing !
Now, I ask myself whos going to start a "Whats your Favorite Swear Word and Why?" Thead - In the least it give the MODS the HeeGeeBeeGees![Wink ;-)](./images/smilies/icon_wink.gif)

Having read the above web page I now know I was completely wrong about the "H" - but at least everything else I wrote was right - the question is why do have this information floating about in my mind?cocoamix wrote:http://phrases.shu.ac.uk/bulletin_board ... s/698.html

I find, myself, that "J*sus f*cking c*nting Chr*st" generally tends to silence the office when tactically wielded at times of some great stress...
Terribly blasphemous, obviously, but I ain't no believer so f*ck it.
...and it makes me feel better.
However, to get myself back on topic rapidly: maybe the 'H' just stands for 'Hello!' and is intended to be used in full (ie J*sus! Hello Chr*st!) as a greeting to the bloke should he be arsed to 'come back' at some juncture. Obviously with a certain Stone Roses choon as soundtrack.
Sadly(?), I doubt it...

I thought "feck" or "feck off" was a good none abusive swear word until Debaser got banned on this board for a day for using it. Then again it could just have been oversensitive moderators and/or the silly bint it was directed at
