I guess that The Mish likely outsold The Sisters ... but then there's a fair bit more of it around.
Eldritch has been recorded as saying that his level of output is due more to 'quality control'.
Also, if you're happy to allow yourself to be marketed in certain ways and play the record industrys' game rather than playing them at their own game ...

IMHO there is a fundamental difference between the two artists which makes any comparison rather difficult. Hussey is first and foremost a musician. Making records and doing live-shows is what he does. For Eldritch, there clearly has been a shift, or as he describes it, 'a Saturday by-job'.
What's his current daytime job then?Karst wrote:For Eldritch, there clearly has been a shift, or as he describes it, 'a Saturday by-job'.
I like these calm little moments before the storm. It reminds me of Beethoven. Can you hear it? It's like when you put your head to the grass and you can hear the growin' and you can hear the insects.

So the reason none of the 'new' songs have seen an official release, is because Von doesn't think they're good enough...Pursued By Trees wrote:Eldritch has been recorded as saying that his level of output is due more to 'quality control'.

For "quality control", read "laziness"

"m*****n" is a profane word? How long has this joke been going on?
I've never actually heard them. Does their music really suck, or something?

Its just a joke going back to the split in 1985.White Like Jesus wrote:"m*****n" is a profane word? How long has this joke been going on?

Does there music suck? Opinions vary. The first 2 albums are pretty good but from then on (in my view) not so good.
Brilliant live though!

They've done something extremely good as well as something not so good.White Like Jesus wrote:"m*****n" is a profane word? How long has this joke been going on?

But that's my opinion.
I don't really stick to "this album is good, this one is utter cr*p", I go more for single songs and here and there you can find some truly good tunes.

After the Tiburg show in 2005 a friend of mine had the guts to ask Eldy the one question nobody on this planet is allowed to ask: when is your next album going to be released...radiojamaica wrote:

To our surprise he didn't start yelling or beating up my friend, but he gave the calm answer that he had enough material on his shelf for two records, but he was still waiting for the right record deal, which could bring him enough money...

Like with all music, it's purely a matter of personal taste really. If you've never heard them you could try their myspace page for a free listen:White Like Jesus wrote:I've never actually heard them. Does their music really suck, or something?

Bon Jovi....
"as we walk on the floodland"
I wouldn't call the m*****n "bad", but they have done some utterly cringeworthy embarrassing stuff in their time. The "First Chapter" material is pretty much a continuation of Wayne's side of FALAA, broadly similar in style and execution, but containing certain songs that Von refused to touch with a bargepole. I don't like "GoM", too much of an unholy mess for me. Children is fairly good, some of Wayne's best lyrics (and some of them genuinely are good) with a more windswept Waterboys/U2-ish sound. First half of "Carved" is the band on top form, second half is pure grinding torment. From then on it's downhill all the way for me, I'm afraid.
If I told them once, I told them a hundred times to put 'Spinal Tap' first and 'Puppet Show' last.
The latest lawsuit?
And since we're at it, I love both bands. And am not afraid to say THE m*****n! Look - not dead yet. Nothing hap- (Is instantly struck down by a bald man wearing dark glasses and a UFP shirt.)

During the BBC Radio 6 the question was asked as well. Apparently Adam is holding things up because he wants a proper record deal. Which is just an excuse, really. But who wants an album these days anyway. Sales are on the slide and he clearly doesn't need one to tour and add to his pension.

I'd kind of formed the impression that perhaps Eldritch didn't part company with his last label on the best of terms. Is it possible that this might have something to do with him not being offered the deal he's holding out for this time around? Maybe he's been tagged with being 'difficult to work with' or something similar within the industry??
