Indifferent really.
He didn't really impact me too much when he was alive, other than having to endure Ben-Hur every sodding xmas, just because granny liked his chest.
Wasn't he a bit of a gun lover IIRC?

"God damn you all to hell!"
Undeniably a fantastic actor, but the whole gun thing was a bit weird.
The family's description of him as "larger than life" sounds vaguely like damning praise though. A bit like when you describe a woman as "bubbly" when you really mean "annoying".

You know, I can never really take that Planet of The Apes line seriously after Homer Simpson did it.
Larger than life = overbearing, big headed, bossy, ..?

Not that I generally enjoy badmouthing the dead, but I don't thin he was a particularly good actor.
Also I have some deep concerns over his NRA activism.

The fundamental cause of the trouble is that in the modern world the stupid are cocksure while the intelligent are full of doubt.

That's where my doubts about him lie to be honest.markfiend wrote:Not that I generally enjoy badmouthing the dead, but I don't thin he was a particularly good actor.

He started off well by being involved with the Civil Rights movement, then fcuked it up by making homophobic comments, then getting involved with the rifle people. Cnut in my book.

Excellent Movie - BUT Any decent actor of the time could have played it - it was the story and plot that makes THAT movie not HestonSyberberg wrote:Soylent Green, anyone?
