What about 'new' burn?

THE place for your Sisters-related comments, questions and snippets of Sisters information. For those who do not know, The Sisters of Mercy are a rock'n'roll band. And a pop band. And an industrial groove machine. Or so they say. They make records. Lots of records, apparently. But not in your galaxy. They play concerts. Lots of concerts, actually. But you still cannot see them. So what's it all about, Alfie? This is one of the few tightly-moderated forums on Heartland, so please keep on-topic. All off-topic posts will either be moved or deleted. Chairman Bux is the editor and the editor's decision is final. Danke.

Yesterday i was listen burn from 1983-09-01 Odeon Münster, and in a bizarre Coincidence in shuffle mode, the song before burn 83 it's...burn 06(i don't know where it's from, i just rip the audio from http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f-Uc5iE5wQY), anyway, so finally i see a BIG riff diference, and i just...love it! this new burn its so good then the original, and u guys, what u think about the 'new' burn riffs?

Did someone here some time ago describe it as "menacing" and was it itnAklipse, or is my memory playing tricks on me? Anyway - I couldn't agree more with that. 8) :notworthy:

That said, the old version is "effin" good too.
It's the song that has the whole essence of The Sisters in it, in my opinion.

Couldn't agree more with that, either :) My slight preferance at the moment is only due to the fact that i've heard the old version 5000 times and the newer one only less than a hundred.

The new one is very fine indeed, but suffers from "the Von effect" (only play half the song, see Lucretia, Temple). A full length version would be stunning. :)
If I told them once, I told them a hundred times to put 'Spinal Tap' first and 'Puppet Show' last.

You really don't want anything from the 2003 tour (of fed-up-ness) apart from the Leeds gigs.

Trust me. :|

I still don't think I found one to better that opening version in Brighton 84.
Maybe it's just "first gig/ first love" & all that, but I still can't find one to beat it.
Cheers.

Original Burn might be the coolest song they ever penned down. When I heard the new version I think I came multiple times.

'Menacing' is a good term'. Now if they just made it as long as 'Neverland-full version' I could die a happy man.

live burn circa '84/'85:
proper tempo,
full drum intro,
riff/vocal verse/vocal chorus not riff/instro. verse/instro chorus/ vocal verse; two gittars no synths.

oh yeah, and andy could still sing it then. :|
Well I was handsome and I was strong
And I knew the words to every song.
"Did my singing please you?"
"No! The words you sang were wrong!"

I've only got Burn live twice on the 2006 tour, the youtube version sounds like 11th May 2006 - Brussels , but could be 7th April 2006 - Madrid. Good quality track though. I like it a lot :D
