Oi! Leave Adam alone

THE place for your Sisters-related comments, questions and snippets of Sisters information. For those who do not know, The Sisters of Mercy are a rock'n'roll band. And a pop band. And an industrial groove machine. Or so they say. They make records. Lots of records, apparently. But not in your galaxy. They play concerts. Lots of concerts, actually. But you still cannot see them. So what's it all about, Alfie? This is one of the few tightly-moderated forums on Heartland, so please keep on-topic. All off-topic posts will either be moved or deleted. Chairman Bux is the editor and the editor's decision is final. Danke.

Over the past few months I have observed a worrying trend among the posts on this excellent forum, a trend I didn't expect to see among a group of posters more mature and level headed than on any other fan site I've ever visited.

vague, speculative comments about the strained relationship between Von and Adam Pearson have developed into full-blown stories about disagreements between the two main Sisters songwriters over possible record deals. And as is nearly always the case in cyperspace, these rumours have got wilder and wilder, and seem to have become cemented in some people's minds, so that now it is taken for granted that the evil Mr. pearson is solely responsible for no new Sisters album or DVD being in the shops.

It is ridiculous to blame the current limbo situation on AP, and anyway, how can you know if the stories about him refusing to accept a small deal with a tiny label have any truth in them whatsoever? How on earth can you possibly know what's going on in such a secretive band? it's all just speculation and hearsay. so drop it! the rumours may be true, who knows, but it's alarming the way AP's name has been so tainted amongst some of you gullible types.

That's fair enough, and a point worth making. But remember that Von said - in the recent BBC 6 Music interview with Andrew Collins - that Adam P wouldn't agree to a record release unless it was with a major...

Now I'd call that the horse's mouth...

Bless! Another controversial and heated debate, diffused by humour, by those mature and level headed heartlanders. :notworthy:

And I do seem to recollect that the oft-quoted reason for the non-appearance of Summer back in 97 or 98 (I forget) was Adam not bothering to get round to recording his guitar parts.
If I told them once, I told them a hundred times to put 'Spinal Tap' first and 'Puppet Show' last.

Hmm, that sounds a bit dubious to me. I mean, if he couldn't be bothered to play on the new single, surely he'd have kicked out of the band? and couldn't he have found the time to record his guitar parts at some point since 1997?

this was my original point- hearsay and rumour have tainted the poor fella. it can't entirely be AP's fault that no new product has appeared - If he WAS solely responsible for derailing the Sisters train, Von would have booted his arse out long ago- Let's face it, he's only a hired hand. he's clearly being used as a scapegoat, either by Von or by his sycophants who can't understand why their beloved leader has lay dormant for so long.

The reason that Von gave for this at the time was that Adam "wasn't convinced" by Summer (i.e. he didn't think it was a particulary good Sisters track) along with some shyte about being too busy building his own studio. Von then went on to say that Adam has "since seen the light" about Summer, but I guess we'll never know if anything's actually been recorded. :|
But I agree, it's not all AP's fault.

It's not all AP's fault, but depending on how you look at record deals, some of it is.

In my post "are the other members of the band holding Eldritch back?", my only point was that I think the biggest chance of a new record is if Eldritch goes solo. It was not a personal attack on Mr. Pearson. I don't have anything against him at all.

I think the only member Eldritch can get along with, without any problems is the non-human Doktor A. By looking at the past it's reasonable to think so.

It's an achievement how long Adam's been in the band.

But Andrew has never minded taking the blame in the past- in fact he seems to quite like it- so I think what he says about Adam's objections is probably true- otherwise he'd just say 'because I don't want to'

respect to all involved here - surely it is just the fact that there really is no news of any activity that fuels the fires of speculation about who has or has not done anything......mind you, This Corrosion is on constant replay on the Kerrang Channel....wonder who the hell chose that to be on????

Plus, gawd help us -CRADLE OF FILTH's new album, 'BITTER SUITES TO SUCCUBI', will include a cover of the SISTERS OF MERCY's 1985 single 'NO TIME TO CRY'.

utter p*sh....(in my honest opinion of course)

Let's stick to blaming Pearson for writing vacuous pub-rock songs.

Adam Pearson appeared last saturday live on stage with Scream Silence, a
berliner combo who play melodic gothic rock, honestly and with no frills.
The show took place at the Herbstndcthe festival in castle Rabenstain
(not far from Berlin), a gothic-medieval oriented festival, probably
unknown to the majority of sisters' fans on this list (i suppose).

Adam played rhythmic in four or five songs and added not much more than
some guitar posing, so much en vogue among current sisters guitarists.
However, he caused the majority of the audience to reach for their
cameras, so Adam is currently on the hard disk of many hundreds of extra
people... Scream Silence claim Adam never plays with other bands, not sure
if that's true or what it is supposed to mean in any case.

I really liked Andreas Bruhn. Very nice guy and didn't mutilate any riffs. Who (if anyone) plays 2nd guitar in The Sisters these days, btw?
