I wanna know what Dub is! I want you to show me!

Does exactly what it says on the tin. Some of the nonsense contained herein may be very loosely related to The Sisters of Mercy, but I wouldn't bet your PayPal account on it. In keeping with the internet's general theme nothing written here should be taken as Gospel: over three quarters of it is utter gibberish, and most of the forum's denizens haven't spoken to another human being face-to-face for decades. Alright people. My usually encyclopaedic knowledge of muzak is seriously lacking in this area. All I know is that lots of people whose musical opinions I respect are really into it.

So tell me about it. What should a beginner listen to? Will it improve my life in measurable ways? Why were Bauhaus in fear of it?

Anyway, Miss B, as far as dub goes, I'd like to say I know a bit, but I man in arms Missa Koen can probably direct you better-ways.

I guess "In fear of Dub" was just a funny name for a Dubbier version of "In fear of fear", as lots of echoing and stuff was going on.

You do need good subs to fully appreciate that album though, lots of things going on in the bass bits of it...

Anyhoo, I'd say Lee 'Scratch 'Perry, King Tubby and the likes, but I'll leave it to Koen to fully educate you 8)

That's another genre that only just *piqued* my interest as I was reading about it in the New Statesman (aye! :lol: ) on the way back up from London. Mind you its praises were being sung by someone who was simultaneously slagging of the fabulous new Portishead album (which I haven't actually heard yet but just know is ace 8) ).
