listening to "A slight Case......." last nght I wondered when and where Vision Thing was a greatist hit.

Why is this song on that album

Deffo. Go to any Sisters gig, and irrespective of what the main set was, if you get two encores of Lucretia/Mother Russia followed by Corrosion/VT you go home happy, hoarse and sweaty. Plus he gets a chance to strut about as the crowd sing all the choruses.

Detonation Boulevard was released in america, I've got the video, and Vision Thing was released in Canada? (it would explain the canadian club mix on the back of Temple 1992)

"Vision Thing" is a very rare CD single which is why it is included on that compilation.An excellent adrenaline raising song with smart lyrics!

No idea why DB is on there as I hate it. And Dr Jeep.

VT would have been the obvious choice for a single from the self-named album but the MF chorus would have restricted airplay and I can't imagine Von would have compromised his lyrics for something as inconsequential as that!

I assume that VT is there as it's his greatest hit that never was. It's his anthem.

WYDSM, as well as Something Fast, are great songs, but three minute pop songs, ruined by repetition and extention. The VT & ASCOB albums just leave me with the feeling that he had great ideas initially and bags of enthusiasm but ran out of steam halfway through.

Mysterious? I think he just gets bored. Very easily. I gave up, a long time ago, trying to find any (amphetamine) logic in his actions.

Sorry. Don't know the answer to the german release question. One for the anoraks, methinks.

Live, UTG rocks like a donkey's sweaty bits, but I don't go for the studio version.

As well as I can remember from the time (it's a bit of a blur) WYDSM was only released in Germany cos of "record company issues", i.e. Von getting a major strop-on about the level of promotion he was receiving.

Under the gun is a fine song.. and i even remember seeing it on tele when i were a wee lad, and thinking "oh i like that" before i really got into the sisters..

I'd speculate that because Dr Jeep bombed when it was released (it only reached no. 33(?) in the UK charts) the record company were reluctant to release another single in the UK. The Sisters have always had healthy sales in Germany hence the cop-out.

I like Under the Gun. A lot.

Pity it had to compete with Meat Loafs 'I would do anything for love (but I won't do that)' in the charts. They were the only two power ballads at the time, in a time that desperately sought a power ballad to cling to, and Meat Loaf got a few million extra to spend on his video (car crashes, mansions on fire, all of that) and, thus, he won the mtv-race by a mile.

I hate to be an anorak, but it reached no. 37. it was a floperooney compared with his previous hits, only spending 3 weeks in the top 75.

Are you sure about Vision Thing and Detonation Boulevard being released as singles? I have a pretty comprehensive Sisters discography (in the book 'The Great Rock Discography') that doesn't mention this.
It doesn't mention these releases on the official Sisters site, either. And I've never heard of either single ever coming up for sale.
Do any Heartlanders own either single? What are the b-sides?

Oh, and I too love Under The Gun.

In america, once you hit Billboard top 50 or so, then it's made commercially available. Until then it's a promo only for the radio dj's to play about with.
