Just totally arse-kickingly brilliant really, isn't it? I mean, I always loved the original, but the live On the Wire / Teachers medley is fabaroonie. Just great. Listening to it now. A great candidate, I would suggest, for re-recording and slamming on a b-side. Or, I should say, 'bonus track'. Perhaps I'm showing my age - I'm a responsible parent now, you know...
Ecky nora, why does every train of thought lately seem to automatically turn around to the screaming little one currently occupying my house?
It's a spiffing song, I may skip back and listen to it again.

when i bought the walk away 12" i actually preferred "poison door" - its got that trademark gary marx riff and is a little more poppy and very very groovy
but i must admit when i first heard the on the wire/teachers done live in 2000 i was very impressed.
am a bit sick of hearing it now though - time for a new cover/medley methinks

Definitely my favourite sisters song live. Love it.

but i always thought the original sisters rendition of teachers was better - especially when combined with the barnstormer that is adrenochrome

I'll third that!
And after Dominion it was the 4/5th Sisters song I'd heard, back in 1988

I have to say, the older I get, the more I think that the 1981 demo / Floorshow EP is the finest recording the sisters ever made. Is this depressing to rockstars? Okay, they still rock, but the raw energy just isn't there any more, as far as I can tell. At least they still write fab songs. It could have been worse. I mean, the white label demo of Columbia is ace, but look what Oasis turned into. Hohum. Thoughts of mortality, and it's only Thursday.

When you peak with your second album, whatchagonnado? Stone Roses managed it with their first, but then, after 4 years in the making, I guess it was inevitable. It must be hard to recapture that enthusiasm and energy that comes from knowing you've got it but haven't yet proved it.

Elegantly put. I will shamelessly steal it, if you don't object.Thrash Harry wrote:It must be hard to recapture that enthusiasm and energy that comes from knowing you've got it but haven't yet proved it.

I really like The Second Coming

I agree. The Second Coming (especially the latter tracks) features some of the most stunning guitar work this side of a dead black left handed guitarist by the name of Jimi.
That solo in Good Times....amazing work!

I'm a Bury Me Deep man but I love the other two tracks, quality items to any canon of work.

Columbia was ok, but the Demo version of Cigarettes and Alcohol totally "Rocks". Liam sings his heart (and/or his balls) out on it, none of the fake sneering and polish of the released version.MrChris wrote:I have to say, the older I get, the more I think that the 1981 demo / Floorshow EP is the finest recording the sisters ever made. Only just revisited this thread. Feel free. I've never been averse to a bit of plagiarism myself. The Green Lantern wrote:Elegantly put.
