Just got the reissue of Gift on CD from 1993 on Rough Trade records.
I seem to remember trawling through Andys Records back in the day and seeing that they also released this on vinyl as well. Is my ancient recollection correct?
Also, I've noticed they spelt Alan Vega's name wrong on the CD.

According to Discogs it was also released on CD back in 1986 (along with the record and tape). Is this true?
And how much do they cost..?

Not sure if the 1993 reissue was on any other format, but the original was certainly on vinyl & cassette (have the former, saw the latter - once).
If I told them once, I told them a hundred times to put 'Spinal Tap' first and 'Puppet Show' last.

But no CD.
I don't necessarily agree with everything I think.
I have the vinyl and the cd - both of which were bought in 1988/89 in Spillers Records in Cardiff, Wales - the oldest record shop in the world - or so they claim LOL

I thought the CD came out in 1988? Anyway, Record and tape are pretty worthless (moneywise...), CD is like gold dust as far as I can tell. Only seen it a couple of times on Ebay and they went for stupid money.robertzombie wrote:According to Discogs it was also released on CD back in 1986 (along with the record and tape). Is this true?

I paid $50 for my 1993 reissue copy as it is!

as an owner of two vinyl copies -one of which was bought on the day it was released (thus ensuring a few meagre pence found their way into eldritch's pocket) - i feel totally justified in having ripped a mate's cd for my cd (r) copy.
fair to say i would happily buy an official cd -at full price from the (ha, ha,) merciful release site- if the old git could get his finger out of his (short) arse and be bothered to sort it out....
ffs - doesn't he need money to blow on drugs and tentacle porn anymore?

Well I was handsome and I was strong

"No! The words you sang were wrong!"

I have the original '86 release on CD. I picked it up in Stuttgart in the fall of 1989. If I remember correctly, I paid around 20 Marks for it back then. Hard to remember exactly.
The spelling is correct for Alan Vega both on the back and on the insert.

Aye, me too!
Yeah, the reissue was on both cd and vinyl.
Incidentally there are two different versions of the Giving Ground 7" single - the rarer one has the old typewriter style font on the sleeve and record label. Does anyone else have this? Is it a re-issue? I've only ever seen it the once and happily I bought it!

Yes, forget all this gothic rock nonsence - tell us about the Tyrell Corp. patch. We need to know.SINsister wrote:I really, really want that Tyrell patch, Kurby.

That appears to be the one I've got although, not having realised there was another, I've got nothing to compare it to. Which font do you mean and what's on the other version?deadagain wrote:Yeah, the reissue was on both cd and vinyl.

the text on both is exactly the same, just in a different font; the usual one has the same type-font as on the lp and cd.stufarq wrote:That appears to be the one I've got although, not having realised there was another, I've got nothing to compare it to. Well, mine has the same text as the album on the sleeve but slightly different (at a glance I'd say Courier but I'd have to check) on the label.
Any more of that and we'll be round your front door with the quick-setting whitewash and the shaved monkey.
I'll have a look at mine tonight and get back to you!stufarq wrote:Well, mine has the same text as the album on the sleeve but slightly different (at a glance I'd say Courier but I'd have to check) on the label.

Apologies, my memory is clearly f*&^*d; it is only the labels which differ (the sleeves are the same, although the flaps are glued differently - one has them inside, the other has them on the outside! woooo)stufarq wrote:Well, mine has the same text as the album on the sleeve but slightly different (at a glance I'd say Courier but I'd have to check) on the label.
I've just uploaded some pictures into the Sisters imagebank.

The aforementioned Sisterhood section on discogs.com is at the following url :- http://www.discogs.com/artist/Sisterhood%2C+The
it includes photos of the different formats and releases.

So does that mean there are still two versions of the label and the one with the different font is rarer?

I don't see the pix in the imagebank or on the discog site. I'm very curious about this. We are talking about the GG 7", yes?

To see the images from The Sisterhood section on discog click on one of the releases listed on the main page. You should then see a photo of the cover with the link "more images" bellow.bismarck wrote:I don't see the pix in the imagebank or on the discog site.
I belive only the album was re-released by rough trade on CD (as stated on discog) so I thought we where talking about that only? too!bismarck wrote:I'm very curious about this. We are talking about the GG 7", yes?
